    I now have a 250 & a 500, two of each! These are the most reliable, race ready stock,, meanest & fastest scooters in the World.

    I still have my 250 cc Scarabeo. Light and nimble yet very stable bike. It' one of the most reliable bikes I have ever owned. As the pulleys wear in the top end increases some. Before a drive train rebuild @ 15,000 miles, the bike was topping out at just over 80 MPH (GPS verified). After the rebuild the top end returned to about 73 MPH. It's not a highway bike. It is at it's best on rural 55 mph back roads.

      Agreed. the 250cc def lack HP on the highway. like you said in the back roads, it is a screaming scoot. so nimble and flickable. I really miss the 250cc.

    Cool vid man. I used to bomb all these very roads back in the day. To be living over a thousand miles away and not have been there in years and then see this is just sooo sweet! Thanks. And if you take requests then maybe Latigo and Corral Cyn. too.

    Thanks for the video, gives me incentive to get my Scarabeo 150 up and running. Great riding skills.

    I have a scarabeo 250 ie 2007 too, chuck in the Mallosi Variator + Contra spring in this bike (screw all of the useless expensive mods, they do nothing excluding a nice exhaust of course) and you have a REALLY fun little ride :) this scooter really benefits from it. It makes riding in traffic.. well easier and much better rev performance across the board. One thing i can suggest... And ride around like this really take care on fast exits... you can really slip because of how scooters are setup

    Great riding and nice music! That road is a little rough in spots, but very little traffic. Well done!

    Haha, well... I heard enough about how bad things can be, but between the warranty and my dad being a full-time mechanic (He used to build motorcycles as well) I think I can handle driving one around for a few months. Actually used the purchase to build my credit which was nice, because it will help me financing an Italian scooter later. Hopefully all will work out. Thanks though! XD

    Just put the "original" sound or wind noises back to the video already. It's crazy watching this great video in silent mode... WMG sux!

    Just want to say great video! I'm a college student and as per the usual flow of things, I'm too tight on cash to drive cars around or even pay for automobile insurance these days (ah, I miss high school!) Just in the process of finalizing a purchase of a newer Chinese scooter to get into things. Your video is inspiring, and your Scarabeo (and the 500 ie upgrade, I'm sure) make me green with envy! Ciao!

    level road, no head wind... around 70-75 mph max. the speedo will read 85mph but i'm pretty sure it's way off.

    i think ppl forget just how nimble the humble little scooter can be i've seen 50cc scoots pull turns that would have wiped bigger sport bikes.

  • @markblu9494

    Peter,
    Do you still have your 250? I just bought one myself, a 2006 but decided I needed the 500. Probably going to keep both, great little bikes

    • @petersomewhere
      @petersomewhere  Před 3 lety +1

      Hey Marc sorry for late reply. I traded my 250 for the 500cc. it was a mistake. the 250cc is single front disk brake but much lighter than the 500cc. I thought the 500cc would be much better with dual caliper front brakes and water cooled. it turns out the 500cc had brake fade much worse than the 250cc. I guess the added weight on the 500cc was just overwhelming even the dual caliper brakes. Nothing scarier than losing your braking ability.

    • @markblu9494
      @markblu9494 Před 3 lety

      Maybe your 500 had the wrong pads installed? I love the braking on both but the 500 doesn't have any issues with braking but it sure is heavier

    • @petersomewhere
      @petersomewhere  Před 3 lety

      @@markblu9494 yah, it only happens (on both the 250 and 500) when I push hard trail braking like the video. Since neither has the HP to keep up with sport bikes, the only way I have an advantage is down hill and tight corners and braking deep. The bike filming me is a 1000cc Ducati monster and you can see it has a hard time keeping up on down hills. the brake pads are OEM on both.

    • @markblu9494
      @markblu9494 Před 3 lety +1

      @@petersomewhere plus you are a hell of a rider - I was racing Decker Canyon recently on my 500 with a guy I sold one of my Z1000's to - everything was great until a wide sweeping right turn & as the bike was ready to scrape it didn't.
      Instead it lifted me up in the air & threw the bike onto the other side of the road & into the gravel.
      It was the center stand - next time I ride like that it will be without the center stand which should also reduce a lot of weight
