- So here it is at last! Very limited edition fine art print available now from our store www.levellers.co.uk/shop/weap...
The Levellers first ever fine art print, suitably celebrating our first album and its dramatic sleeve.
Jeremy says...
It’s the whole piece (not just the detail on the “weapon” cover) at actual size, from a screen made from the last ever printing of the original woodblocks.
And this isn’t just any old screen-print made with the finest quality materials but one actually made entirely by Charlie and myself.
The print run is strictly limited to 47 - numbered and signed by both of us and if you watch the video of us trying to produce it you’ll see why!
It literally took us weeks of trying different inks, screens and papers. Basically a lot of intense work! But so worth it, we hope you agree; Charlie and I are hugely pleased with how it’s come out and invite you to get one quickly...we can't go through that again! x - Hudba
So cool to see this art come to life again. I remember buying this image as a t-shirt in an underground shop (although in an attic) in my hometown almost thirty years ago. I saw you twice in Sweden back in the early '90s. Good memories!
Seriously, can we have a laugh.. Word... not world. For 25 freaking years I read and heard the world.
I have no words..for it.
No joke, but it also took me over ten years to discover that. I always blamed it on English not being my mother language. Word... not world. Funny to read the same story here haha.
Interesting to watch as I've printed manually and by machine on different surfaces. Both different inks on different corresponding screens I'd rotate around pulling down in turn and a machine with CYMK and individual colours. The length, angle of the squeegee, tension and pressure all count. Watching for screen bleeds etc. I even covered by own dryer removing shirts I'd put through folding them as they came out. The boss didn't let me do more than monitor the automatic machine because of my epilepsy so I did all the big manual jobs which took more skill and energy.
I loved seeing how this is done, I'd love to see more videos like this although I hope there's more success in future projects
I use to do it professionally as well in Germany Hamburg. The biggest thing I printed was a parachute 5 actually. It took two of us about 12 hours to do the 5. 😂
Could print from the broken original onto tracing paper and use Indian ink to fill in the gaps from the cracked template and used that to expose the screen as if new again. You'd still be the original artist.
Will you be printing any weapon called the word t shirts for the levellers shop?
Nicely done guys... Quick question for Jeremy. Did you also do the "Mouth to Mouth" art work? It just seems a bit different to your usual style. Hopefully see you soon guys. Peace and Love x
