Thank you! I'm trying to mix a shadow colour to go with lighter orange tones so your tutorial was just what I was looking for. Never thought to use a touch of black in a mix with orange!

So the reason it looks almost brown is because brown is actually just dark orange. Once orange goes past a certain level of darkness, it transitions into what we call in our minds brown.
Fun fact for any who might not know.
