@@Vladdamyre So true. I was once lucky enough to watch them play live in Spain while standing with Nigel Godrich. It was the first time he had heard some of the songs live, that he later produced on the album Hail to the Thief. He was concerned about how dense some of the new songs were and how challenging they would be to mix and produce. Then they played Talk Show Host and the contrast in density, space in the arrangement and simplicity of the song was so clear, compared to the newer stuff, we couldn't help but smile. Every time I hear it, it makes me chuckle remembering that conversation and how concerned he was about what to do with some of the newer songs.

That noise at the end is in the song and it symbolizes man vs technology/artificial vs natural, with the artificial eventually engulfing the organic. “Let Down,” the previous track on the album ends in similar fashion with an acoustic guitar and synth, but on that track the guitar gets the last lick. You can also hear something similar on “How to disappear completely,” with the de-tuned, shrill strings attacking Thom’s wailing vocals, trying to drown him out until he eventually rises above. I remember the first time I heard this song. I was in college and downloading random mp3's. this was pre Napster, so you really just had to take what you could get. I was digesting as much music as I could, as I was a vocal performance and music theory major, who came from a small town where the only music on the radio was classic rock and country. I heard this song and was blown away. I played it for my more worldly friends later and they were like, yeah that's Radiohead. I asked if the rest of their music was this good? They told me this song came from probably the greatest album of the decade(90's), Ok Computer. I immediately bought the album, and every other album before or since.
