The fact you can tell Peter (guard skeleton, Larry’s brother) is smiling but Larry literally doesn’t have a lower jaw makes it very difficult to tell what his emotion is other then movements and gestures

Simple my friend, as we see, throughout the years Larry never grows, so it doesn’t make sense how he can be as big as the Skelton King, so there’s only on explanation, and Guard Skeleton(his friends with the knights helmet), is actually inside the chest plate of the Skelton King’s armor, he actually operates the big bones so the Skelton King can walk and move his arms, and Larry is standing in the Guard Skeleton so he can navigate the way and tell the Guard when to stop and hit things.
