Awesome footage. This video should be a 1 million view video. Very cool to watch. It was interesting to see how they did not cut the boundaries and just picked up edges as the new truck arrived.

In Ireland up to mid-90s, some farmers used to direct cut silage and others swathed it and used pickup headers. Acid was also added to treat the silage but that practice stopped. Now all farmers and agri contractors swath silage. So really interesting to see a direct cut header in action.

marksandsparks1 these heads nowadays are mainly used for biogas in Germany. Google ‘Gantz-Plant-Silage’ or ‘GPS Biogas Silage’ for some crazy big 5 harvester operations in Eastern Germany. You won’t believe your eyes they are on a massive scale.

When we do our direct cut of triticale, we also chop into large forage wagons pulled by tractors with front & rear duals mostly due to the ground not being able to dry out like it does when we cut it and come back a day or 2 later to windrow & chop, also to reduce compaction by the semis.

I only know of one direct cut silage header in south east Colorado and it’s a Spartan from Capello. It works really good, does a nice job. They have to be careful to make sure the crop is mature enough tho otherwise it puts it up too wet. Also does not work when bagging silage as the water runs out of the bags

For those of you who don’t know what a dry cow is, it is a cow that is not being milked because it is soon going to give birth to a calf and thus needs that milk for the calf

Tons and tons of feed. Dry cows 🐄 will do well on this. Some day one of those choppers is going to catchup to that little drone and eat it. Great sound. That chopper is working hard 😓. Thanks.
