What nicotine level should you choose when vaping?
To get the greatest enjoyment out of your vaporizer, e-cigarette or e-cigar it’s important you find the nicotine level that is just right for you.

To select the proper nicotine level you need to ask two questions.
1. What is your current tobacco use?
2. What type of device are you using?
Choosing your nicotine level doesn’t have as much to do with how many cigarettes you have a day, it’s more about the kind of cigarettes you smoke.
There is no exact level of nicotine listed on a pack of cigarettes, and that’s because some cigarettes contain more nicotine than others.
Below the closest comparison that is available between e-liquid and cigarettes.
Unfiltered, very strong cigarettes - 36mg of nicotine
Full flavor and strong cigarettes - 24mg of nicotine
Regular cigarettes - 16mg of nicotine
Light to medium cigarettes -11mg of nicotine
Ultra-light cigarettes - 8mg of nicotine
Super light cigarettes - 3mg of nicotine.
Non-smokers - 0mg of nicotine
Another factor you need to take into consideration is what type of device you are using.
For disposable or rechargeable e-cigarettes and e-cigars, you can match up the nicotine level to your current tobacco use.
For more powerful devices, like those that are 10-20 watts, such as vaporizer pens, you can typically drop down one level from your nicotine level consumed from tobacco.
For the most powerful and variable devices, those that are 20+ watts, such as box mods, it’s best just to start at 3mg.

In no universe does anyone need 36mg of nic in their vape.
I agree. 24 should be the absolute highest! And AFAIA 24 is the highest that you can buy. It is in the UK anyway. And that was changed in May of this year (2017) it's now 20.
for ecig and small pen devices it's somewhat understandable, they really hit shitty, but with slightly bigger mods and box mods it is a ridiculously high amount to be vaping. definitely not recommended
I reduced my nicotine level from 18 to 6 by switching to a sub ohm tank.I'm now on 1. Almost pointless adding the nicotine, but as soon as my nicotine runs out i'll carry on vaping with 0 nicotine because i like the flavour.
MichaelF i use 24mg because i went with 6mg before and i still was craving a cigarette badly. However i was a 2-3 pack a day smoker so it could of affected that. At first 24 was way too much but over the course of a day or two i was used to it and my cigarette cravings are prsctically gone while vaping. 18 is the lowest i can go to stop cravings
I used to think I needed high nic too but I found the lower the nic the bigger the hit. So I am on a sub-ohm tank with 6 mg of nic and it's way better than when I was on 24. Bigger clouds mean more nic. But whatever works for you.
I agree with most of this video. My story is that I smoked tobacco (cigarettes) for 41yrs, so I am admittedly hardcore addicted to nicotine, and, yes, I tried all the clinical nicotine replacement therapies without success. It became obvious that pulmonary and cardiac disease had set in (COPD and A-FIB). If I wanted to live I HAD to stop "smoking". I heard about and tried vaping 2.5yrs ago and haven't inhaled any tobacco smoke sense.
I started with a high ohm-age tank with a 30 watt box mod. The liquid that I used was menthol flavored with 18mg of nicotine. I was able to satisfy my addiction but really didn't like the taste. After a couple of weeks I changed to apple flavor and reduced the nicotine to 10mg, this was better but still a little harsh for my tender lungs. I did some research and learned that nicotine itself actually tastes bad and helps to make the vapor harsh. It was recommended that I graduate to "sub-ohm" tanks with bigger mods, because they yield richer vapor and better taste. Now I have a collection of six mods and eight sub ohm tanks. I was able to reduce the nicotine level to 3mg in all my favorite liquid flavors (apple, mixed berry, butterscotch, and a fruit blend called "The Gentleman").
I have no pretense. My diseases WILL eventually take my life. Of course I wish that I had never smoked in the first place, but this is the way it is. Another thing I wish is that vaping had been around 25yrs ago. May God bless you all and may God bless America.

I used to smoke ~40-50 very heavy cigs a day for more than 10 years straight and when I switched to vaping I started out with 8mg nico liquids. After 2 months I switched to 4mg nico and never looked back. If you can, try to bring down the nicotine content in your liquids as much as you can tolerate and trust me, it's great to be free from that addiction as well.

For anyone wondering... I'd been smoking for about 20 years as of 2017, the last 7 years of that had been American Spirit roll-your-own cigs (non filtered). I was able to quit smoking starting with 6mg of nicotine with a box mod. I shortly moved down to 4mg which is the sweet spot for now. I encourage everyone to try to do the same if they want to quit smoking. I've tried to quit many times before and failed, with patches, cold turkey, little ecig pens that didnt satisfy, and I am not going to take any pharma pills. a good mod (I got the Smok alien 220w tc mod) may be a bit of an investment, but I already feel a lot better, less out of breath, don't stink of cigs, and made my mother happy :p Exploring juices to vape is fun, but shop around in small quantities until you come across juices you like to invest in larger amounts. Coils will also have to be replaced about once a week which can run you under $6 a pop.

I used to smoke full-flavor cigs and use 50mg. Everyone is different. I do smoke cigarettes still from time to time and like someone else said, it's not really health reasons, just convenience. I think it's good to start around 30mg if you are a smoker like me though.
I was a heavy smoker and bought myself an ego aio and 6mg liquid.

Vapor has plenty more clouds compared to smoke. So if its 3mg of nic then it will be more when you vape/inhale, it triples /quadruples the nic levels you get unlike cigarettes that use combustion but has small smoke production.
25mg to 35mg/15ml salt nic are perfect to me, since im only using pods for vaping.
A 15ml salt nic can last up to 2 weeks so it save me a lot

I used to smoke rolled tobacco maybe 5-6 a day. And I bought an epen and it has 18mg/ml. Is it too much or should I lower it to 12mg/ml
i have been vaping on a regular basis for 10 years. When I first started vaping I tried a variety of ejuice brands and nicotine MG, PG%/VG% and flavors of ejuice. I read online that the more the nicotine mg, the stronger the flavor of the ejuice (it seemed illogical, but at least my case after testing, it is true). I vape 24mg nicotine ejuice, with 50% PG/50% VG (it gives less of a vape cloud, but much better flavor). Also I make sure I buy direct where they mix it (so it is fresh). Whereas lower nictoine mg 18mg or less gave me less flavor then 24mg of nicotine (same adjusting the ratio mix of the PG/VG %) and also the coil atomizer Ohm Resistence, I use a higher ohm (2.2 ohm gives me more flavor, better hit then lower ohm such as 1.8 ohm or lower, again it is the same as the PG%/VG% ratio mix, a lower ohm coil number will give you less flavor/more of a vape cloud).

Smoked lucky's for 10-12years. Now I vape with 12mg/ml(quit smoking for about 6 to 8 months now). The moment I switch to 6mg/ml, I want a cigarette. I vape about 30ml-40ml a week with an ENDURA T20 vaporizer, and I feel like this is a lot! How much oil do you all vape a day/week?

9 years smoker, quit smoking with uwell kalmia and 50mg menthol salts. Menthol adds a nice throat hit, and reminds me of the menthol cigs i used to smoke. Device itself is also very thin, i can hold it like a cigarette and that helps in a psychological way. First 2 weeks were still hard though, sure you get nicotine from vape but cigarettes have tons of alkaloids in them that makes it hard to quit. I used to smoke 2 packs a day (sometimes 3) so thats why i went with 50mg. You probably wouldn't need that high amount.

As an ex smoker myself, i advise you to use salt nicotine instead a freebase liquid (if you want to quit smoking cigarettes 100%).
To satisfy your need you can start with 6mg up to 25mg nicotine, i usually buying a 25mg/15ml salt nicotine liquid and it can last up to 2 weeks

I use 18 in a box mod. (18 is the highest you can get in the uk). Quitting smoking is the hardest thing especially when you're the type of person to get stressed easily. I'm still not quit yet but hopefully soon I will. I'v gone from 40 a day to maybe 2-3 a da. I'm 26 I shouldn't be smoking that much.

I smoked 10years (first blue,last 7 years red) and i managed to quit with only 3.6mg/ml of nicotinejuice. That equals my 2ml tank is same as 1 light cigaretto and i smoke like about 7 to 10 tanks a day. Pretty good i used to smoke like 10+ reds a day. I think my wife will need to start use pure tobacco flavored nicoine concrete as she smokes less cigarettos with same 3.6 juice but havent been able to entirely quit. this is the reason, she have been heavy smoker for 20 years and simply need more nicotine

American Patriot84 I still sneak a cig here and there but I'm down to 3 nic. Best advice I could give you would be to find a higher nicotine concentration, for which you would likely need to search online for. A higher wattage device to deliver the vapor faster would do you wonders as well, aim for anywhere between 70-220 watts. You'll get more nicotine in less puffs that way. The menthol juices I've tried taste VERY menthol, almost completely replicates a mental cigarette. Most importantly, if you give it time, your body will adjust to lower levels of nicotine and your cravings for any nicotine in general should greatly reduce. For example I work in a factory and get a break every two hours. It used to kill me to even wait that long but after going down to 3 nic, I'm not even noticing withdrawal as much as I just want to get off my feet. Usually when I want a cigarette it's in the morning it after coffee, or after a 12 hour shift

I need y'alls input on this! I'm a 2 pack a day smoker full flavor menthols for about 22 years and decided to start vaping 8 days ago. I'm using a Lotus Mega 40 watt sub mod " straight 40 watts not adjustable". The vape shop recommended 6 mg of nicotine ejuice and I'm still craving like hell and having to smoke a cigarette once or twice a day. They said with sub mods that's safe levels...WTF?!?!? I want off these cigarettes!!!!

menthols hit harder because of an interaction with nicotine and menthol. Try a menthol juice. Also straight nicotine found in juice will not compare to tobacco since tobacco contains a nicotine potentiator that hits the dopamine receptors about 1000x harder

Why cant people understand, it is simply flavoured water that is heated to make steam, like a tea pot. 0 percent nicotine, it is simply 100% safe! And it also doesn't stick to you like smoke. It is just something that relaxes you.. but then people say even if there is nothing wrong with it, it is fun so it is addictive so people say to much of anything is bad for you, not true bro, if it isn't harmful in any type of way.. there is nothing wrong with it!

If the ejuice contained water your lungs would be soon full of it. Ejuice without nicotine contains propylene glycol, glicerin and some safe aromas ONLY. That's why it's much more safe than "analog" cigarettes.

Good video. But unfortunately, here in Europe, we are limited to 20mg/ml. If we want stronger liquids, we have to import them from China. Shops like FastTech deliver that.
