  • Sky News host Andrew Bolt reacts to Australia’s rejection of the Voice to Parliament.
Sky News Australia called the failure of the Voice to Parliament referendum after projecting the majority of states to vote No.
“I don’t know why there have been so many long faces tonight,” Mr Bolt said.
“I think this is a brilliant day for Australia, absolutely brilliant. We have defeated an attempt to divide us by race in our constitution,” he continued.
“We have stood for the principle of one person, one vote.
“I think it’s marvellous. It seems Australians have seen through the falsehoods of the Yes campaign.”

I can guarantee you it doesn't matter how many times our Indigenous brothers come up with a plan to make things better for our people they will get rejected every single time, because it's always not 'the best way to go about it'. Bro this was going to be an advisory body like ATSIC. Government decisions are always done better when consulted with advisors before making a decision on particular matter anyway. The military already has a 'Voice', I wouldn't feel comfortable if the Australian government made a series of military decisions without consulting with the military advisors first. So our Indigenous brothers here in Australia don't feel comfortable when the government makes decisions affecting Aboriginal communities without first consulting with Aboriginal communities.

Lets be clear - historically Australian's are reluctant to change the constitution, and especially in these uncertain times the fear-mongers are able to pick-off easy wins like this to serve their political and business objectives. That's all the No campaign was ever about for Coalition, because they knew they could turn it into an easy political win - its very hard to change constitution in Australia. But this is no win for any Australian only these few privileged profiteers. It is also failure of Albanese government as they should have clearly said how the thing would look and how it would operate. It was a true failure of marketing too, as Australians wouldn't change the constitution just to be kind lol. But yeah its sad that these kinds of media outlets I regard as "right-wing extremist" would take this as a victory. Its a political victory, but is a loss for the country because we still dont have constitutional recognition of our national interest to protect and preserve and accommodate the oldest culture in the world that is integrally linked to Australia and our national identity and modern culture.

Absolutely… interestingly back in February 2023, the Attorney General, Mark Dreyfus, Labor MP, proposed a 7 word edition to the Voice referendum legislation that would have potentially limited court challenges. This got rejected by the mainly indigenous constitution advisory committee to the PM, who also vetoed the idea.
At a stroke any chance of bipartisanship was probably lost. Rightwing commentators had something to beat the Voice proposal with (endless court challengers). It was a gift to the No side.
It’s now history the PM and his advisory committee rolled the dice and lost big time.
They may of had a bit of a chance if they had listened to Dreyfus, Australia’s top law man in the government.

The AEC estimated that this cost upwards to 490 million dollars, which only created racial division, waste of the weekend for many hard workers that had to avoid a fine, and I am sure 480 million dollars could have been spent better elsewhere.
Albanese has a damn lot of explaining to do here.

It is a great result, but it is terrifying that so many people are so lost in this country so as to vote Yes for this bad idea😮
