Ex-CSX Standard Cab Dash-8’s at the Cumberland deadline

On May 11th, was the day I’ve been waiting for; National Train Day! I first went to the Altoona Juniata Shops (should have that uploaded in a few days or so (that is if my computer doesn’t give me a hard time)), before relocating to Cumberland. While I was there, I was able to spot CSX 9969 with the Geometry train and the Pere Marquette HU. But stuff at the deadline has change. With more locomotives arriving or were transferred to a different storage track, a mini siding was created for more stored locomotives and two of them were sister units that I never forget to this day; Ex-CSX Standard Cab C40-8’s. MEC (Ex-CSX 7594 & 7595) were built by GE for CSX before being sold to Pan Am in Late 2016. By the time CSX Bought Pan Am in 2022, those sister Dash-8’s were sort of resold to CSX (Not really though). I still have not confirmed it yet, but what I’m guessing is that the CSX/ MEC yard in Maine (forgot the name of that yard (let me know in the comments if you know the name of that yard) ran out of storage space for stored locomotives and were transferred to Cumberland, and that to was filled to capacity and eventually making a second mini storage track. Seeing these Standard Cab Dash-8’s was a true sight to see and I will admit that it was even better to get a clear shot with no freight cars blocking the units. After that, I packed it up & relocated to a couple more Railfan spots (That’s another story). Hope y’all Enjoy the video!

MEC 7594 and MEC 7595 will probably get repainted like MEC 7627 was repainted into CSX 9280

I remember seeing 7771 in early May of 2023. Can't believe it's already in storage now!

Same here. But sometime soon, all 31 remaining 7600 series and 34 7700 series (7701~7759) Dash-8's are "going bye-bye" soon aka being retired (since the majority of them are 30+ years old and are aging pretty good).

The unit with the Georgia RR sticker is supposed to be somewhere in the string. There is also a GP30 slug and MP15 slug.

It's CSX's waterville maine yard i thought csx was sending them for repair and repaint like they did to 7627 which is now 9280 csx was supposedly going to keep some around because they have the proper ptc setup for the mbta

Well CSX did rebuilt a good number of 500 series AC4400CW. So it could get rebuilt soon.

Not sure. But one locomotive (CSX 1170 that’s in the deadline with the Ex-CSX C40-8’s) is one of 56 locomotives retired from CSX and will most likely be sold to LTEX.

I was told that 7868 was the only reactivated Dash-8 along with Dash-9’s 9025 & 9045.
