I've always run "Droop" in one way or another....
I'm only down to three Rigs now (serious financial hardships), and one of THOSE is a crappy, Plastic Chassis HG P402!! 😔😫
I have an SCX10 One still in progress (no Body yet), and I attained some Droop, by using 4mm Springs from Bic Pens, inside the Shock, under the Pistons, pushing up. But I still have external Springs pushing down.
I just finished a SCX10 II Raw Builder's Kit (THANK YOU Wounded Warriors!!!). I set up more common Droop, using very soft Springs. 1.43lb/in. front, and 92lb/in. rear. That lets it sit at about 1/3 Compression, while still having a full working Suspension. The Stock Plastic Axial Shocks that came with the Kit were CRAP!! Leaked and kept sticking! 😫 A Good Friend gave me a set of 100mm Redcat Gen 7 Pro Shocks, 2 Years old and never leaked. They are SO underrated!! *Smoothest* Shocks I've ever owned, and still haven't leaked a DROP!! 😊👍👍🇺🇸
On the SCX10 II, the 3.75:1 Axle Ratio almost completely prevents Torque Twist. (Something COMMON on the Vaterra Ascender, with its 2.21:1 Axle Ratio!) 😱
Even on the SCX10 One, I installed 43/13, which is 3.30:1 Axle Ratio. HUGE difference in Crawling and reduction in Torque Twist!
Back on point, I actually did a setup like yours once... with Axial Shocks, just using narrow Springs, under the Pistons. I ended up changing it, because the Wheels wouldn't dip into ruts easy enough, which was the reasoning to do it in the first place.
Anyway, I tend to talk *too* much in my older age! Thanks for the look at your ideas. You've obviously been doing this awhile too. I've been in the Hobby since 1984... Only in Scaler/Crawlers since 3 years ago. That Deuce-and-a-Half looking Body is SAHWEET!!! 😎👏👏👏👏👏🍺🍺 I MIGHT just want to do something like that to my SCX10 One, still waiting for a Body. These Days, it's ALL about COST, and money that I no longer have. 😔 Lost nearly everything about 9, 7, and 4 years ago, in an unbelievable Series of Awful Events. My tiny Disability Pay isn't getting us back anytime soon, but RC helps keep my Sanity, so I consider it a necessary expense. Although I can't even afford cheap Scale Accessories for my Rigs, or even a SD Card so I can make Videos with my decent Camera. I've been doing slideshows, showing what I'm doing with my Rigs lately, if you care to look... Hopefully soon, I'll be able to make Videos at some point soon.
Sorry!! 😫 I've said way too much, again for an introduction. Anyway, your stuff looks good and your experience is interesting, so I Subscribed!! 😎 I would appreciate it if you could take a look at my Channel. Thanks!! 👍👍

You definitely have a subscribe from me. I have about half droop on my TRX4 Blazer with the lift kit on it. Softest lift springs that Traxxas offers with 10w oil. It's insane the articulation is about 6 inches still running 1.9 tire combo for tuck. Former Jeep off roader switched to RC Crawlers it's a lot cheaper than buying for tires to build a rig the right way. When you've done 1.1 scale for 20 years this is sweet bringing the tech over if you can build it

That's a very cool military rig.
What the "make" on that rigs body? Who makes the body?
Droop-suspension definitely has its place in the hobby. I run droop on the front of King Midas 6x6...better driveshaft angle , better low center-of-gravity and gets the tire as close the the fender without rubbing.
My oldest son runs full droop on both ends.
Integy made the first droop shock probably about 13 or 14 years ago...ya...I think it's been that long.
Good video bud. I noticed the noise from the rain. Love rainy days....rather hanging in the garage doing rc work or watching a good movie with the wife.

Very nice video and your very well spoken and your military truck looks awesome !! The suspension on the vaterra looks awesome!!
I'm fairly new to the hobby and run the Ascender K5 and want to get into droop and ways to get more travel....My question is if I wanna use my stock shocks for now....what is a good weight oil and should i change or modify the springs? What weight oil did you use in your 80mm integy shocks?
    Thanx bro!!

Honestly I am running stock trx4 shocks on both of mine. After tuning the factory shocks by using a lighter oil and adjusting the preload, I have not found a shock that performs better for the price.

Would full droop work good on my cross sg4 demon?

    • @JPsRCWorkshop
      @JPsRCWorkshop  Před 5 lety +1

Depends on your driving style and terrain. It should be fine once you get the spring rates right. I'm not familiar with the demon having never seen one in person, but it should work like any other crawler on droop
