- The downhill track in Austria had established itself firmly as a "bike park" race. However, in recent years, the introduction of a new woods section towards the bottom has allowed for more natural and technical riding. As the rain continues to fall, will this be the crux of Saturday's final?

Most of the course is out in the open, with woods covering the latter of the track. Vali's Hölle, an extremely steep and technically demanding section in the woods, has caught many a rider out since it was included as part of the 2020 World Championships track and stayed there for the World Cup in 2021.
We jump onboard with the Santa Cruz Syndicates very own Laurie Greenland and Jackson Goldstone for a course preview to see what the riders think of the 2022 layout.

First time I've thought "looks like a fun trail" whilst watching a WC DH preview.
How the f are they able to ride vallis hölle in these conditions. I had trouble getting down there when it wasn't even half as wet. The video pov makes this look so easy... :O)

How do the guys stay (more ore less) dry in those conditions? Especially in practice when they have to do one lap after another?
They dont stay dry lol.. they all have a lot of extra riding gear, and often change pants, jerseys, socks etc. between each lap. Must be nice huh!
Jackson was mostly mud at the end. No way they stay dry, just got fresh laundry waiting.

Can somebody explain to me how they dont get wiped out on the first corner? This type of mud is the worst and i have never been able to ride in it. I know they are professionals and all but do mud tires matter this much?
