They took so many elements out of the comics and managed to make them work in video game form, it is really quite an achievement

It actually makes a lot of sense for batman to send in robin first as a scout.

Of course, endanger the child first before going in. Granted it is an highly trained child, but that didn't stop generals in wars, so I guess if it'll work on the battlefield it'll work in the streets.
It's funny how Batman thinks it's a nice idea to pick these orphans from the streets and dress them in colourful attires in order to fight crime. You would expect him to make them wear black so they can hide easier. I know that's not what they were going for and they just wanted a contrast but it basically looks like Batman is using them as bait lol.
@@Sushiettethat was back when superheroes were going on innocent and fun adventures and the idea of a kid going on these wacky and goofy adventures with Batman was wholesome and brought in more kid readers. But Batman got darker as time went on so the idea of a Robin gradually became more disturbing.
@@aex9516 To be fair, the 1939 batman was pretty dark initially. Nothing as profound as today but he already had that grim aura surrounding him. I believe comics got progressively more childish and ridiculous as time passed, leading to the 1966 TV show. I think everything got sorted out by the late 70s and 80s with things like Jason Todd (a more rebellious Robin) and his eventual demise. Also the killing joke is an example of this. But my point is that Batman was pretty dark initially and they dumbed him down during the late 40s and 50s.

But for real Rocksteady if you’re listening next Batman game we need a more of a team dynamic I’d like to hear Batman say something like “gel sprayed” “throwing a batarang” “Downed an enemy” then Robin can also say roughly the same thing but more Robin like tough but still childlike and cocky

@DaySights Kevin Conroy was a Legend, but other people have voiced batman. Even in this franchise, there has been another voice actor who has done a decent job. I would also love to see Jensen Ackles do a Batman game

I love Conroy’s adaptation and believe he was the only one that not only perfected but owned the voice of bats, but without him I think next best thing is Jason O’Mara.

It’s crazy that Gotham Knights took lots of aspects from the Arkham games but made them much worse and less functional.
They had pretty great animations tho, I will give them that.
It's kind of impossible to take certain aspects from the arkham games and bring them into a co-op format. Freeflow combat wouldn't really be possible in co-op since players would just get in each other's way and there wouldn't really be any enemies that would have the health or means to require teamwork against (Most of Arkhams enemies were less dependant on health bars and were more about finding and using specific tools/moves against them) it's also probably where stealth ended up lighter because if you were playing co-op there's less room for very particular planning, like one would see here.
I have a soft spot in my heart for Gotham Knights conceptually, it feels like anything trying to step out of big brother Arkham's shadow was doomed by comparison and to be honest the game is poorly optimized and messy for it's price tag. I wish it had been more stable and well put together because it honestly feels like it really loves the characters (Unlike a certain other game that came out recently) and was an evolution of what WB wanted to make after origins (Playing origins it felt like there were concepts it wanted to do there that didn't mesh well with the mechanics, like lots of boss fights, different types of elite enemies with weird weapons, online multiplayer ect) but I dunno if it would have survived the comparisons to Arkham or the accusations of microtransaction design even if it was more competently sewn together, and I don't know if banking on multiplayer is a great idea for one of the earlier games to sport that big old "newest generation" price tag.

yea, tbh if there were multiple starting positions with thugs and if they'd go in a random direction every time, that would make everything so much better due to the game forcing you to adapt to the new scenario
well they do and they dont, sometimes they go somewhere else completely but fair enough
