    Good way to bring batteries back to life. I have already tried the 1st trick on different batteries. Successfully! But then I connect the cables for 10 seconds and then I immediately put the battery in the charger. I have tried different brands, including Gardena, Parkside and Bosch.

    Thanks. I had a 4ah down to ~5v (measured between + / - on the battery itself). The charger wouldn't charge it and both lights blinked. The charger doesn't even output power when plugged into socket, until apparently it 'talks' to battery to do some form of a handshake (I guess board in battery has to give OK to be charged or charger doesn't start when voltage of battery is below certain level). In my case I connected 2ah (fully charged) to the dead 4ah twice for ~40m each time. Then the dead 4ah (showing now green + yellow on the capacity indicator) still wouldn't start charging. Put it on a cordless drill and ran the motor couple of times. Then attempted to charge it again and miracle - it started charging.

    I read somewhere in the comments that I need special Parkside charger to fully charge my battery, but I don't believe this, is it true? I still have original charger, although it's the entry level charger. Maybe my light indicator on the battery is defective?

      0.5mm² or 0.75mm² are enough but if your battery is drained more, just add a 55W headlight bulb between one wire so the current flows through the bulb so it doesn't charge with high current which can damage the cells. And don't leave the batteries unattended while doing this!!!

  • @krasias1
    @krasias1 Před 2 lety +5

    Такова разбалансиране на клетките се получава най често при зареждане на батерията при ниски температури под 0°C. Възможно е да стане и при претоварване на батерията, батериите 2Ah трябва да се товарят максимум 10-12A самите клетки издържат до 18A но загряват доста при този ток. Този метод не го знаех, аз премахвах балансиращата платка на батерията и зареждах клетките една по една и после отново запоявах балансиращата платка. Но този метод е по лесен би трябвало да стане и с обикновен регулируем токоизправител като му се зададе 21V в конкретния случай с тази батерия на парксайд. Следващия път като имам такъв проблем ще проверя и този метод. Благодаря за видеото.

    • @ErCanEverything
      @ErCanEverything  Před 2 lety +2

      Може да се заредят без да се разпои платката, но при разбалансирани клетки трябва да се заредят един по един. Когата им захраниш общо със 21V, пак няма да се балансират или трябва да се изчака много докато платката ги балансира. Най добрия вариант е зареждане със 4,2V и максимум 2-3A

    • @ToMiTj
      @ToMiTj Před 2 lety +1

      And there is a problem with balancing speed... most pcb boards do balancing very slowly .. It is designed to balance during every charging so if you dont use battery for very long time cells might go out of balance very badly.. Then when you put it on charging it could take days to fuly balance every cell... Thats why it is better to manualy charge every cell group to same voltage.. That way you basicly do manual balancing faster than pcb board , you bring cells basicly to similar voltages and after that electronic board can take over and keep battery balanced (if you use it from time to time ofcourse)

    • @ErCanEverything
      @ErCanEverything  Před 2 lety +1

    • @rotorblade9508
      @rotorblade9508 Před 8 měsíci

      I don’t see how charging the individual cells one by one could affect the bms. I charged the low voltage cells too and it works fine now. Now you can just remove the bms, wire a ballancer connector and use a small battery monitor, I guess you probably know that.

      Basically, 18V and 20V batteries consist of 5 cells. That is, the nominal voltage of both batteries is 18.5V, but Parkside decided to mark them as 20V. Battery capacity doesn't matter but to be safe make the current flow through some kind of consumer eg H1 lamp but should not be left unattended!!!

    I've had the same problem. I was measuring battery and:
    1. on contacts was ~18V
    2. on each cell was 3,62V, except one where was 2,48V
    3. on BMS contacts I had no voltage (!)
    Because of point 3. I've tried to measure different points between cells and BMS -- strangely after a fev tries I started to get measurement corresponding to those on cells. After that I had to leave suddenly -- when I came back and sat down to measure again, all the cells had the same voltage. I put the battery in the charger and it started charging properly. Strange!
    Any idea what was wrong?

    • @ErCanEverything
      @ErCanEverything  Před rokem +1

      I think BMS balanced the cells.
      Otherwise, with such a large voltage difference, the voltages must be unified, and then the battery will start

    • @overPowerPenguin
      @overPowerPenguin Před rokem

      The BMS should to balance the cells, that's the role of it.
      If you have a battery that is not balanced after a full charge + a time let in charger after 100% (because balancing on some BMS is done after each cell hit 4.2, so it will lower the current and it will take even hours to balance the last cell), they you should consider to entire change the BMS board or the battery itself.
      Also, lack of balance is a first sign of cell failure, so you probably consider to change battery after all, because of the risk of fire hazard that's hard to extinguish (you need to put the battery in water and let it a day or two).

    connecting 2 batteries directly - unsafe!
    I there is a lot of difference in voltage - it can pull too much current and make fire.
    and what about just discharge and charge slow: about 200mA of current. BMS should balance cells by itself if have more time to do it.
    typical BMS can balance 20-60mAh per cell. So more time it have to do it work - greater effect. In theory)))
