What key was that played in? Did he have his guitar tuned down?
Half step down. He does it a lot from what I can tell. If you watch him play outskirts of heaven, his capo is up on the 4th or 5th fret, and you can match that in standard tuning playing the capo one fret lower.

James Smith Blues Man is a hard song to sing. But he did this very well. I honestly thing this song is more suited for a female singer, female voices are just way more flexible and can hit all highs and lows
