You are incredible, Laura! I have never in my life read that many books in one month! You definitely push yourself pretty hard on so many goals. I have a feeling that your feelings of frustration (and your continued insistence that it’s not depression) are just something that’s pretty typical for the late January/early February time of the year for many many people. Winter in the northern states does feel interminably long some years. Especially when we have unseasonably warm days that tease us with the idea of spring. To answer your question, the reason some people (*me*) love squares and confetti is that I zone in on the symbols only and don’t pay attention to the picture at all. It makes it like a game of Tetris or doing a jigsaw puzzle, trying to find all of the same symbol. The zoning in is calming for my brain and takes me out of the stress of the day and is like making little pictures in my mind. Switching from that to color blocking feels so so so boring to my mind and I get anxious about not having the diamonds perfectly evenly placed or the color block looks wavy or crooked. So confetti it is! ALL the confetti. 😂❤
Thanks Laura. I am in agreement with you on the rounds being my favourite. I see the detail in the squares and I get that, but I so enjoy the relative quickness of the round kits. I have been listening to a few audiobooks as well. I agree, they count! Just finished Patrick Stewart's Memoir and have started listening to one by Nora Roberts (Inheritance). I also read a couple of physical books so it was a good reading month for me! I am happy with whichever way you decide to do your unboxings and I definitely look forward to your kit 'n chats and picking of accessories. See you Wednesday. Have a good week! I hope things get better for you at work.
I’m one of those who Love square drills and working on a canvas with a lot of confetti! Here’s my reasons why: Square Drills give a complete rendering of resin sparkle on the Entire canvas surface and to me that gives the painting more life and vibrancy. I think squares are easier (if you have a quality kit) because they snap in place if not in a perfect line. Whereas the round drills can be a little cockeyed and still fit on the canvas. Secondly, the reason that I love confetti is that you get a blend of colors, like going from dark blue to medium blue to light blue to pale blue for instance. This takes away from that “coloring book” look in my opinion. Also, I get extremely bored laying down a “sea” of endless single color. Part of the fun for me is finding all of the number 9’s for instance, in the square area I’m working in. It reminds me of working on a puzzle somewhat. Anyway, that’s the enjoyable part of this hobby for me. I know many may feel differently.
Hi Debbie! I definitely agree with your thoughts on confetti. I don't mind confetti, I actually enjoy it. For some reason the combination of confetti and square drills just isn't doing it for me lately. Round drills with confetti I'm good with, but squares... I'm just not loving at the moment. I can definitely see it being reminiscent of a puzzle!
Thank you for this wip n chat. I do really enjoy squares, but rounds are a nice break sometimes. I would like to see you do all 3 of them for the unboxing. I am currently reading a Court of Thorns and Roses. I guess you could say listening to as I am listening with Audible. You will love the Crescent City series when you start. I can't wait to read the last book. Have a great week!
Another audiobook listener! I don't really read physical or ebooks anymore. I tend to skim too much, so I just listen to it instead. I listen while do chores and diamond painting. I'm also incredibly picky on narration too. I have a few favorite narrators and a few I can't stand. Thankfully audibles' return policy is super lax. I've been considering listening to ToG and CC because I loved ACoTaR so much. I think you just sold me on it. My favorite romance series is Psy- Changeling series by Nalini Singh. I think Angela Dawe does a really good job narrating. Also, if you haven't already, check out your library for audiobooks too. My library uses Libby, and I've saved a ton of audible credits with it.
I loved listening to the last Throne of Glass book on audiobook, I wish I had done it with the whole series! I enjoyed it so much I moved right onto Crescent City! I need to pop into my Library to renew my card, but I will definitely check out Libby. I've heard so many good things about it!
It’s funny you’re going to do the Rita Konya in a smallish round, as I just kitted up this morning her DAC Guardian of the Winter Forest (in squares 😂). I will likely keep the sections smaller than I do on rounds, but MY GOODNESS, it’s suck a pretty kit! So, the squares vs rounds debate - I get you. And I’d like to get out of the mindset of dreading a project because I’m thinking ahead about how many more drills a square has vs a round. Yes, I get that stinking-thinking too. I hope you get out of your rut. I enjoy your videos very much! I think your post reviews are my favorite. I love hearing your thoughts and experiences. Don’t put too much pressure on yourself, this isn’t your full time gig. Oh, and my favorite part of kitting up is seeing you choose your accessories ❤️ have a great day!
Omg you’re using a thin multi-placer! Do you love it?? I couldn’t live without my 2. Love your wip and chats, but love kit and chats more lol. I think you should do all 3 paintings at once. Can’t wait to see what you come up with next week
I actually prefer thin plastic multiplacers to the dac ones 🫥 I meant to talk about it in the video but I forgot! I'll try to remember to talk about it next week!
I like the idea of an unboxing and kit up... so maybe 2 DAC unboxing together and the one you plan on doing soon as an unbox/kit up? I'm one of those weird people that like large images with square diamonds and lots of confetti.. but I like rounds too.. especially as a break after completing a large square one. I would rather color block in squares though, I think I can get them straighter than rounds.. but I single place a lot. I will use a mulitplacer for line work, but for large areas of color blocking, I generally single place to keeps things as straight and even as possible. I love your channel and do feel that you provide quality content... keep up with the great videos...I actually look forward to then each week. Sorry your in a funk at work... my work just recently decided to restructure our department and "mandated" a change in hours... so I went from 07-1530 shift to a 10-1830 shift... so definitely NOT happy..I'm a morning person and had volunteer work scheduled in the afternoons at my library and local outreach clinic (I'm an NP) which I've had to give up... so we'll see how it goes. Good luck completing your kit in time for the post review..I have faith that you'll get it done 😊
Thank you Julie! I'm sorry you're dealing with work stuff as well, that hour change would kill me. I work 6:30-2:30 and would be miserable if I had to work that late! What a bummer about your volunteering being affected as well... boo!
Laura, I am watching all of your old videos just cuz you make me smile. I am currently listening to September 2022. In a wip n chat, you do tag questions from Susie’s Diamond Painting. I would love to hear you update the tag questions (answers) for 2023. Just a video idea. 🧡🐢🧡🐢🧡🐢
Hi Laura loved your video now I do prefer square's then rounds but i will do both if i love the picture I dont care and i would love to see the same picture in both thanks for sharing ❤
Thanks Tracey! I don't let drill shape deter me from pickup up a kit I love either. My aversion to square kits is some what recent lol hopefully I'll get over it soon!
I prefer square drills because it’s easier for me to multi-place. I struggle with the spacing when trying to multi-place round drills. There is always a large gap between the sets of multi-placed drills which irritate me 😂 I do like breaking up square canvas’ with round at times.
Laura, this past weekend, my boyfriend and I took down the remaining Christmas decorations at his house. My goodness, I whined and complained the entire time because all I wanted to do was play dots! You’re adult of more than me 😂
You seem to be getting burnout from this kit. I know you strictly work on one kit at a time but honestly, maybe working on a round snack would rejuvenate your motivation a bit. A Maryline casenave or an amazon exclusive DAC is my go to in these times~ I'm a square person through and through but I also get so fed up by how much heavy confetti slows me down. I work on multiple wips of different sizes and drill types to avoid this. Im just too impatient lol.
I think you might be right. I've actually never had burnout on a diamond painting before, but there's always a first time for everything. I've powered through and am almost done, so I'm going to stick it out. But next time I get the feeling I might try doing a small kit to get me through. Thank you!
Hi Laura! Three unboxings in one video works for me, but I honestly don't mind either way. Do what's easier for you! Thanks!
Thanks for the wip and chat always enjoy your channel. All 3 unboxing but it's up to you. Look forward to th next kit up and chat. Take care.

Unboxing - whichever is easiest for you ❤️

The rounds help me feel like I'm actually making my way through my stash! Planning a kitting up and choosing accessories kit for Monday!
That is a beautiful kit!

I should have read the replies before making mine. Your comment is almost exactly the way I think with squares and confetti. ❤

Unboxing… I love your unboxings! However you want to do it is fine. But I love your kit ups where you show how you pick your accessories.
🧡🐢🧡🐢🧡🐢
Next Monday's video will be a kitting up and choosing accessories!
Laura i forgot to mention that i don't mind if you want to show all 3 canvases ❤

I suggest maybe unbox the two in one video..and do the other unboxing and kit up as a separate video..just a thought ..thanks for the wip and chat

Lol! I was all for leaving them up just so I could have more diamond painting time.
I’m a huge V.C Andrews fan…
I tried to order some putty from Bre but it looks like she doesn’t have anything 😞
Oh no! I would keep an eye on her Instagram, she usually posts when she restocks on there.
🩷💜🧡
