    Can you make a video on engine bay cleaning and rust prevention?

    • @FierceMotorworks
      @FierceMotorworks  Před 2 lety

      Chris Fix has a great video for engine bay cleaning. The engine has a lot of aluminum, so rust prevention is pretty good from factory. If you live somewhere with snow and salt, try to wash it more often and flush the salt away and prevent it from eating through stuff

    • @FierceMotorworks
      @FierceMotorworks  Před měsícem

      It is possible to do (I think). My Dart is a manual transmission, and I haven't looked into how to change the oil.
      If you or your son plan on turning wrenches yourselves, I highly recommend finding the factory service manuals. It has everything you need, descriptions, diagrams, and torque specs.

    What do you think about adding Lucas super coolant to the reservoir with a 50/50 pre-mix coolant??

    • @FierceMotorworks
      @FierceMotorworks  Před 2 lety +1

      I haven't used it before. If you decide to use it, you could mix it with the coolant in the bucket before using the vacuum tool to pull it into the car.

    Hello, I had to change the radiator on my car, I put it on myself and added Coolant as usual. when i start engine the radiator Fan starts spinning and the temperature does not exceed 85 degrees Celsius. Can you tell me what it could be?

    • @FierceMotorworks
      @FierceMotorworks  Před měsícem

      If the radiator fan turns on, it means the car is opening the thermostat and cycling coolant through the radiator to cool down. 85 degrees Celsius is fairly normal. If it goes much hotter than 85, you risk overheating. It sounds like the car is cooling itself normally.

    This was really informative! However, I'm very confused because my coolant is bright pink and I don't know what to use to add to the system! LMAO

    • @FierceMotorworks
      @FierceMotorworks  Před 11 měsíci +1

      The factory coolant is a bright pink color. It may fade over time due to contamination from the engine to a light red or pink/light purple color.
      I would recommend replacing with the same thing. I went to the dealership and got 50/50 premixed coolant. If you already bought some, check the container to see if it is pre-mixed or concentrated. If it is concentrated, you will need to add distilled water to it.

    • @mindofmyown333
      @mindofmyown333 Před 11 měsíci

      @@FierceMotorworks I did not expect a reply so fast so that is awesome!
      I finally got the answer to the color question: When Fiat and Chrysler merged, they found they each had a pink and an orange coolant blend and it was causing confusion. To remedy this, they changed the coolant color in ~2014-2015 to the purple and reddish-orange for Domestic cars.
      Adding to my confusion is that my coolant was supposed to be changed last year at a service at my dealership. Turns out that the dealership never did the coolant flush they charged me for! They pulled up the record for the service and checked the serial number of the coolant they supposedly added and it came back to the purple. When I showed them pictures of the pink, they half-ass apologized but also said "you or someone else must have changed it since then". I was so confused as to why it was still pink since that was phased out!

    Inst the overflow tank way too full?
    Should it not stay at the max level line?

    • @FierceMotorworks
      @FierceMotorworks  Před rokem

      You should fill to the max level line. Mine got a little overfull, but as the car ran and the coolant cycled through the system a few times, the level eventually dropped to the proper level.
      Also, I have a tiny pinhole leak somewhere, so I have to add a little bit of coolant every few months because it gets low.

    Is that the green antifreeze?

    • @FierceMotorworks
      @FierceMotorworks  Před měsícem

      The factory anti-freeze is more of a pink color. The main thing is to match whatever is already in the car. I replaced pink with pink, so if yours is green I would recommend replacing it with more green. The colors should all function about the same, just don't mix colors because that can cause problems.

  • @fallenone6

    So you bleed the system with the cap on and just rev the rpm and have the heat blasting? Some people say to do it with the cap open so im a bit confused. Also, my water pump is leaking and i have work all week. Is it fine to drive it still aslong as i keep the reservoir full?

    • @FierceMotorworks
      @FierceMotorworks  Před 9 měsíci +1

      If the leak is slow, you should be able to drive it and keep adding coolant to keep it full.
      The darts have a pressurized coolant system, so the factory repair manual recommends bleeding the air (revving it with the heat blasting) while the cap is on.

    • @fallenone6
      @fallenone6 Před 9 měsíci

      @FierceMotorworks great thanks that will give me time to replace it on my days off. If i drive it Will Distilled water be ok to keep it full instead of wasting coolant since it is leaking or would you suggest to use coolant still?
      Also do you know why when I fill the coolant level, it gets empty while driving but once it cools down and I open the cap it gets back to full?

    • @FierceMotorworks
      @FierceMotorworks  Před 9 měsíci +1

      @@fallenone6 You can use distilled water if it will never get below freezing. Not sure why it appears low but fills up after opening the cap.

    • @fallenone6
      @fallenone6 Před 9 měsíci

      @FierceMotorworks Could it be air in the system stiil?
      If I choose to use distilled water. Will it throw off the 50/50 ratio to the point where i have to drain the coolant and use fresh new 50/50 or will I be ok using the same coolant after the water pump change? I had just put fresh 50/50 from fixing top radiator hose not too long ago.

    • @FierceMotorworks
      @FierceMotorworks  Před 9 měsíci +1

      @@fallenone6 If you use distilled water, it will throw off the ratio, so you would need to drain the coolant and install with fresh 50/50 to get back to the proper ratio, after you fix the water pump leak.
