Lol...My 10 yr old gamer son asked me if I've ever been into video games and the only ones I could think of ever playing were Nintendo console old school Mortal Combat with hubby when nothing was on TV and Pac Man and Elevator Action during my occasional visits to the arcade. The music and sounds of EA are forever ingrained in my memory! 😂 Thanks for the flashback!
Wow that brought back memories! I used to dump that machine with quarters lol. It looks so old. It makes me wonder how the hightech games we have in the present will look in 20-30 years.
I love it, that takes me back. You didnt jump on any of them! Or shoot the light out to so it fell on em!! I used to steal money from milk bottles left out side people houses to play this in the early 80's. Down to the acarde on the BMX. Classic
It's crazy how big of an impact both of those things had. And there was such a short window for doing that. Arcades were only big for what, 10 years max? Even that long? Anyway, that triggered a memory for me. BMX bike down to the arcade, boom box on one knee. Jamming some Buckner and Garcia.
Man that's kick ass!!! thanks for posting this on here! When I was 18 I used to have a friend who wa a bar tender and they had this video game at that bar and he would open up the front of this thing and put like fifty credits on it and I'd play this thing for ever it seemed like!! Recovery Room when it was at Glendale & S. Detroit ave Toledo Ohio!
Strange as it is, I got here, after reading hours of discussion on some old incident, with skepchik, elevetor guy, and dawkins reaction. After being too fuzzy of reading the tons of endless discussions, I did remember that old game on my CPC, elevator action, hahahaha!!! I really wanna look at this to rest my mind.
The arcade version of this game was mostly sold as a conversion kit for Taito's Jungle King/Hunt or Wild Western. They also made very few dedicated versions, one of which I'm fortunate to own. I also have one that was a conversion from Taito Crazy Climber.
Dorkly did an animation and used the sounds from this in the very end as Giovanni is going up on the elevator! I just watched it and as soon as I heard those sounds I immediately knew where it was from. Good memories. Thanks for uploading!
Wow, played this game a lot in the early eighties on Taito arcade consoles and I still do today, with Mame. In my best days I used to score 200,000 and sometimes a bit more. Never played another games as well as this one, and that's why it's one of my all time favorites.
DUDE, I'm 39yrs old now, as a 12yr old in chuck E. Cheese, I'd have a crowd of kids around me playing this game...... Do you remember the absolute ~~SHOCK~~ when those bastards started going prone on you! I was like, WHAT? (*jaws dropped*). I thought the game was physically screwing with me! To this day, I still want to get my hands on the arcade version just to pass those levels. BY THE WAY, much respect for you for knowing about that. You musta kicked A&&!
The goal of this game is to retrieve secret documents in a briefcase from all of the red doors on every level. (back then they were called boards), w/o being shot by the men donning black suits. Then the goal was to get to the bottom floor where a car awaited you. If you missed one (1) door, you were set back to the most upper level of the building to start again.
In a not-too-distant hotel, a secret agent named Frank Weymouth, aka Scarab, descends. He shoots agents and when they fall, he hears "Take Cheyenne for a walk!" "Center of the room, which is the Heart Room!" "He's Bible Pig!" "And up again for Popeye the Sailor!" "I answer...Star Trek!" Then he continues his quest.
@angelomcm If you realize at the end, there's an exclamation mark over the spy's head which means you missed some red doors which are the ones in the 11th and 9th floor. After you enter all the red doors, the guy escapes on the car, making some drifting to turn around. The third way to kill enemies is to smash them with the elevator, which gives you 300 points. The 4th way is to kill them when a lamp falls down after you shoot it.
You can now play this game in your browser here: archive.org/stream/arcade_elevator/elevator.zip?module=elevator&scale=2&keyboard=arcade Other classic arcade games are also available from the parent site here: archive.org/details/internetarcade/
ONLY TRUE "Elevator Action" fans know about how those bastards dropped prone! I had forgotten about that until LegitBacKdoorNiNJa69 mentioned it! ....ah memories
They remade an arcade version with mutant boss and co op, but not as fun cause the gun aim suck, and I'm not saying I suck,it's the calibration of the gun
Dang...inadvertently deleted and/or reported one of the comments as spam! Was trying to go into one of the links in the comment that apparently lets you play old arcade games. Sorry!! 😔
I always played this when I was down to my last quarter, because I could easily play it for half an hour while my mom shopped.
"Uh, elevators." "OKAY!"
The music and sound from video games in the 80s should go into the Rock and Roll Arcade Hall of Fame!! Nothing but classics!!

I respect a company that can afford this many elevators.

Used to play this in the buffet at Ipswich railway station back in the mid 80's

Awesome, Dennis. I am glad it brought up memories! Be well !
Yea thank you!! I'd love to have the game at my house!
If you possess a PS2, Taito Legends 1 has what you are looking for.
I remember this very well!
Simple but **addictive!** Games like this are **great** as time-fillers - they take no time to learn and are good fun.
Hearing that music instantaneously brought me back to 1983 like it was yesterday. I loved this game.
Love how protagonist looks so relaxed all the time.
Me volvi adicto a esta madre, ja, ja, en su tiempo

Great video.
A gem of a game from my childhood. Could go all day on a fist full of 20c coins.

The amount of quarters I spent playing this as a kid....
Talk about feeling old...I think the car at the bottom is an AMC Pacer.
I use to dominate this game
I LOVED THIS GAME!
Cool game, but the music gives you seizures after about 5 minutes. Back in the day, the arcade was too noisy to notice. Now, it hurts.
I had it on my NES and I tell you, it's quite different. Music has more channels and the game is way more colored than the console version.
He couldn't get to the waiting car because he MISSED SOME RED DOORS! He would have had to go back up and get them. Rookie.
Era muito legal
