That CM Punk referee reveal could not have been handled any better.
It could've if Punk wasn't wearing bright red Air Jordans
What are y'all on about? The way they did the screw finish was chef's kiss. The camera angle, the way they explained everything with the bts footage. Sometimes it feels like people overly criticize anytime Punk is involved.

Seeing Punk screw over Drew was my highlight of the night. It was done so well. Loved the clip I saw in Twitter of how he got the referee shirt. It's nice how WWE pays attention even to the little details. Wish AEW did that.
Could Sidgwick have been more pedantic about the Punk finish

It's never NOT gonna be weird to see the Real AEW World's Heavyweight Champion on WWE television. How CM Punk manages to be a top draw for both companies is wild.
😮 Drew McIntyre is a beast. The man literally somehow convinced WWE as a company to book a PLE in Scotland. What kind of man has that kind of balls to be able to pull that off because that is a lot of politicking. Drew is the man of the future for wrestling.
Respect to Sidgwick for critiquing his own review style when it comes to WWE during the Gable/Zayn discussion. Giving a well deserved five star rating for that
For someone who bangs on HHH for his love of 30 minute matches, Sidge loves him a 30 minute monologue. 🙄🙄 Would be great to hear from the other panelists without Sidge having to "let them talk" when he decides.
I think y'all, and a bunch of other online commentators are being incredibly hard on Jade. She def struggled to get back into it.
Also, how unreal is it that you see video of refs showing performers that the rope is acting up, but still just be dismissive of it

Despite his protestations, Sidge seemed to actually enjoy the Punk finish. On the issue of logic, the finish made perfect sense in the big picture. Punk and Drew hate each other and will do anything necessary derail each other. On the mechanics of the finish, why Punk was in Scotland, the interaction with the referee backstage, etc., those are details that don't need an explanation. But for the purpose of this discussion, the simple fact that CM Punk is a WWE employee is logic enough as to why he was there. Certainly WWE won't travel with all of their talent, but he is a massive star and it is plausible he would be at the show even if he wasn't there to participate. Punk made an opportunistic decision to interfere, and logically it's plausible that the "backup" referee wasn't a backup ref at all and just happened to be in the wrong place at the wrong time.
I agree with the reason for him being in Scotland but how is this any different from somebody from the crowd or any other wrestler coming out and ending matches.
He's not an official referee.
Sidge likes what he likes and people fault him for it. That's why I love this podcast because all 3 have different views about wrestling, yeah sidge is more on the negative side but he will put over WWE when he agrees with the booking or see something he likes. Well balance podcast!

As far as Maxine being a bad actor with bad selling, wrestling is more pantomime than acting, everything needs to be big and obvious so people can see it in the cheap seats, subtlety is lost in an arena. She certainly has room for improvement, but she'a hardly bad, either. She's where you'd expect her to be given her experience, and she's playing to the audience, not the camera.
I love you guys and at the same time I believe that Drew and Punk will be the hottest professional wwe wrestling feud of the century.

Pro wrestling logic and how much it should be scrutinized always feels… tricky, for lack of a better word.
It feels like it’s often a case-by-case basis.
The screw job is a perfect example. We’ve seen Punk and Drew go at each other viciously for months, so it made perfect sense to me that Punk would screw over Drew in his hometown. And I didn’t feel the need to overanalyze why Punk grabbed a ref shirt. He’s a petty bastard with a flare for theatrics. That’s enough justification for me.
Sidge has decided to overanalyze every detail like he’s conducting a criminal investigation because that’s his prerogative.
I just have Scotland the Brave running through my brain on repeat.
The better question is who wins the first match between drew and punk and then who wins the overall feud

Wtf kind of nonsense is Sidgwick on about the finish. Just say you wanted Drew to win and now you're upset cause what you wanted didn't happen.
Say what you want about Priest but at least he can make a match feel real, like a sports based competition. Unlike someone like Osprey who does gymnastics x no sell x pose, rinse and repeat.

They got the finish of the WHC match about 80-85 percent right. Punk should have been 2nd ref at ringside.
😮oooh I just remembered Wade Barrett has been talking smack about CM punk interfering with Drew a lot. Maybe they’re going to draw Wade into the middle of this and then see punk is going to start crap with Wade in order to fuel this blood feud.

Yet again there insulting jade even if she is just getting her feet, after working mostly 3 to 5 min squash matches in AEW, training at PC for 8 months with a appears in the royal rumble match which isn’t the same as working a singles or tag match. Her really first match was at wrestlemaina in 3 women tag where she was still protected by her two other partners, then to a tag match with a injured askua and kairi sane for 30 min, followed by a triple threat tag team match with multiple moving parts and top ropes that might have been in rough shape considering we had at least three botched top rope moves during clash at the castle. So I wish these so called professional journalist would stop saying jade is a danger to her self and others. The wrestler they should be call out is Tiffany Stratton for a number of reasons, but because she is a big breast blonde in the mold of charlotte flair they will never say a single bad word against her. Even if she is sloppy as f**k in the ring.
The overcriticism from Sidgwick here is incredible. I know he has the style he likes and I know he's very knowledgeable about wrestling, but this just came across as him going out of his way to criticise WWE because he doesn't like the fact they are doing well.
😊 speaking of that main match the screw job was fine. Great you know it’s going to just continue the blood feud between Drew and punk, but do you feel that for some reason this may also create a bit of a friction between punk and Damien? I know after the match at the press conference Damien just basically told everybody. Hey I proved everybody wrong because I’m still here and I live to shove it in everyone’s face but do you think in the back of his head he may start to create resentment towards punk?
😮 Damien Priest at the press conference remind me a lot of the class boxers, who are good people think they’re not and they thrive. I’m proving people wrong every time. As a matter fact, he does that in his promos as well in the ring he knows he can do the job he knows he can hold onto that belt and every time people doubt him feed him more and he goes don’t care. I’m good and nobody’s gonna take this away from me deal with it.. Great great stuff.

I’m with Sidg on this. If MHs rationale is right, that Punk wanted Drew to win the title, why did he stop counting at 2? There was a great pitch in the preview podcast I think of Punk interfering to hand Drew the title, so he could then brag and wind Drew up that he was only champion because of him.
As it was, the best version of the ref fake out would have been 1. Drew sees another (genuine) ref on the aisle, and covers Priest. 2. Punk emerges from the back (not wearing a ref shirt) and trips the ref. 3. Punk either steals the ref’s shirt, or doesn’t bother even, slides in, and doesn’t complete the count. 4. After the low blow and Priest hits SoH, the replacement ref enters the ring and counts.
Punk doesn't want Drew to win anything, ever. Why would he want Drew to have any title or any accolades?
@@badonkeykong7506 I think the argument was so his inevitable match with Drew could have been for the title, with Punk tormenting him with the line “you’re only champion because of me”. Anyway, as it is I agree Priest v Gunther will crown the latter, and Punk v Drew has been escalated further, albeit in a clunky, and somewhat dumb, manner.
@@alexmayberrythefirstThe Drew/Punk fued is so hot that it doesn't need a title. As it stands it's by far the hottest fued in WWE right now and will main event Summer Slam. The belts are needed more for a Cody or Priest angle, who don't have these nova hot fueds going on, so from a booking perspective I see the efficiency of the decision. I also completely disagree it was clunky or clumsy.
I think, in CM punk's head, having drew lose in front of his home country + his wife is recovering from a illness + losing AGAIN in his hometown , will hurt drew more deep inside than him handling drew his win.
And I quote “that noise is so annoying every time I hear it makes me so angry”. This is my wife responding to every time she hears Adam Wilbourn say HELLO! at the beginning of every podcast 🤣🤣🤣

😊 i’m still not quite sure how they are aligning Drew and punk or even if there is a black-and-white to this, maybe it’s just supposed to be all gray. But just by observing what’s going on to me punk is acting like a child more than Drew is, I understand that punk is saying because Drew laughed at the fact that I was injured or anybody being injured I am now going to for the rest of eternity make sure he never wins a belt. I guess great for storyline but it makes punk seem petty to me, but I don’t know that’s how I’m feeling about the whole thing not wrestling, but it like it doesn’t make sense as far as character.
😮 I hope that Cody doesn’t fall into the same trapping. He did back at AEW where the fans began to climber for him to turn heel and he actually does not want to heal cause that was a big problem back in the AEW days.
