My mom didn't let me watch SpongeBob as a kid. Then when I was 12 it was conveniently on Netflix, so I binge watched it in what was the best time of my life. Unfortunately, my sister caught me and ratted me out. I begged her not to, but then I heard her tell our mom. It's strange though because my mom never talked to me about it. So, the next week i watched it some more but made sure I did it when nobody was around.

What is the reasoning for not letting your kids watch SpongeBob? Like actually, so many parents think it’s “inappropriate” but what part of the show is inappropriate?
The "spongebob is inappropriate" thing is just a lie parents tell their kids so they won't argue when it's switched off. The real reason is because they hate the sound of Spongebob's voice.

I grew up rural so there was no cable and my parents didn’t see much point in paying for satellite TV. By the time we had broadband internet I was too old to care about SpongeBob. I still have never seen a single episode.

I was so confused when my parents said I couldn't watch SpongeBob because it's too inappropriate when 6 year olds watch it and I'm 11. I was thinking "It's just a kid show and I watch more watch films for more mature audiences". I believed my parents were just being annoying for no reason then I realized the hidden jokes in it when I became older.

I remember staying at my neighbors house for a couple of hours as a kid and I wanted to watch tv to pass the time since I didn’t have much else to do.
Turned on spongebob and had to turn it off because no one in the house was allowed to watch it. Funnily enough that was the last time I was ever over at their place (we’re super close to them tho)
