Introduction to the all time greats at the Habs Centennial celebration at the Bell Centre on December 4th, 2009. Special guest Gordie Howe introduces legend Jean Beliveau. - Sport
Two legends now playing on that great big rink in the sky. RIP
You gotta love when les légendes gives each other props....
I was lucky enough to meet both Howe and Jean. Two incredible players and even better humans. We were lucky to have them for a while.
Jean Beliveau, was the classiest player I ever saw.
He most certainly was all that & much more, my friend. Though we here in Toronto had a rather *classy player* back in the day, as well. He being, *Mr. David Micheal Keon.* Who to this very day, is the greatest ice hockey player to ever wear a Toronto Maple Leafs sweater, as well. IMHO, of course.
@@why-why-whywhywhy I agree Davey Keon was for Toronto one of the best.
He is the reason why players are so proud to put on that jersey. He is a true Legend. R.I.P Mr. Beliveau.
+Jon Pro Very nice of you to say that.
RIP Jean Beliveau 1:42 (1931-2014)
RIP Dickie Moore 0:56 (1931-2015)
RIP Gordie Howe 0:12 (1928-2016)
RIP Henri Richard 0:39 (1936-2020)
So many legends are no longer with us...
R.I.P. to both of these men.
I'm glad to see that young people are giving the old guard their due. Not only are they absolute legends, they were tougher than any of the powder puffs that play in the NHL today.
they were men that lived during hard times. Now we have men living in soft times.
My father did his schooling with Jean Béliveau. They reunited in 1993 in Saint-Boniface, Manitoba.
Hold him in the highest esteem of any athlete ever. Total love and respect from this Bruins fan.
Gordie Howe and Jean Béliveau, RIP!
Excellent to see the appreciation by the fans and the NHL for the guys who brought the games to our homes every week, through the long winters.
Jean is my hockey legend I'm actually crying rate now rip
Mister Hockey Gentelmen Gordie Howe and Jean Béliveau.......
Heaven has one Hell of a hockey team!!
Greatness never dies. Jean and Gordie still rock, even though both are now gone. See ya, guys.
i found jeans office phone number and talked to him 3 times on the phone. i also sent him a book and he signed it and i have the purolator envelope in his hand writing as well what a great man he took time to talk to everyone all his fans he is sadly missed rest in peace gros bill
Two hockey icons!
I grew up in Detroit, played hockey every day in the winter on the park pond off 6 Mile Rd. in Redford, and played intramural hockey at U of M for four years. I got to caddy for Howe once and saw him play a few times. He was a giant.
I was lucky enough to see them play. RIP # 4.......
Yes I saw them both play too. They were fantastic. 14 cups between the two!
would have loved to see these two legends play together..i'm sure it would have been pure chemistry
2 rather different players in how they played the game but legends and winners both. As a Habs fan, RIP Le Gros Bill. RIP Mr Howe.
Jean and Gordie together. Priceless.
Both legends R.I.P Gentlemen
The rocket, the golden jet, the chief & mr hockey is the reason I love wearing #9
Probably the two greatest players of the 50's And 60's...What class acts on and off the ice...R.I.P Jean Beliveau and best of health to Gordie Howe.
Agility Bolt ... you still have to include the Rocket in that list ...at least throughout the '50s
R.I.P Gordie Howe
RIP Jean Beliveau
You're watching his highlights and interviews as well eh? haha
Derian Stockburn I watched this last week, as part of my Gordie Howe sadness binge. I'm very, very, very sorry to have reason to watch it again so soon.
Monsieur Beliveau is gone... and we're likely to lose Mr. Howe as well. It's going to be a sad week in hockey.
graperonto Agreed, Sadly coming after losing Pat Quinn this past week as well.
Now both of them are gone :( RIP
Yeah, so sad
RIP JEAN BELIVEAU WE ALL LOVED YOU
Two of the best hockey players ever!
These are the real hockey heros who played for the sport not for the money like the over paid players of today, will never see hockey players like them again, Jean Beliveau, and Gordie Howe, the greatest of all time, true Legends 🥅🏒🏆❤👍
I agree with you. But Beliveau was such an intelligent young man, he knew at the time that the owners were making a lot of money on their back. And he waited almost a year with his junior team in Québec City before signing with Montreal because he wanted he contract he deserved.
Love the old school french - those days are long gone....
I loved the old school english myself and have to agree with you that those days are long gone indeed!
Why did they cut to the crowd as Jean was approaching Gordie? Magic moment whiffed
Sadly both men are gone. They were tough and great athletes who played each other at 100% every night. Retired from hockey they became ambassadors with grace from the sport. RIP gentlemen.
2 hockey Champs!!!
may they both rest in hockey paradise
great gentlemen, awesome hockey players - simply the best!!! Gordie and Jean!
I feel a tear in my eye when I see my idol John Beleveau!
I hope every NHL player watches this video to know how hockey was once played.
I was fortunate enough to meet Gordie Howe one time. His team was practicing in Colorado Springs and Minnesota was playing against Colorado College one year. I’m from Minnesota and watch hockey as much as possible. My favorite is amateur hockey at the high school level because it is non-violent and the boys play so hard!
....It was A Time when HOCKEY Was Hockey.....Now it's ALL about the $$$$$$$...!
Wow, that may be the dumbest thing I have ever read. Congratulations
@@dr.aisaitl7439 your wrong. Look up what gordie howe asked for when he started. Players now are pussies compared to the men who played in this generation.
Hockey sucks now. Over refed. The instigator rule ruined hockey.
Henri Richard "C" ❤💙 merci beaucoup France 🇫🇷 🙏
Viggo Mortensen is a huge Habs fan. He actually wore a Habs t-shirt during filming LOTR. He introduced his hockey idol Guy Lafleur during the Habs centennial ceremony
Grand.
Mr. Hockey number 9 Gordie Howe ::Raises his Stick in Respect:: Also to Jean Beliveau the greatest Captain in Montreal Canadians History. Sincerly a Rangers Fan. Also Lets keep the Cup between the Original Six!!!!
Great legends of hockey on ice..If i do not saw wrong,i saw Henri Richard 0.37.
They are all gone....😥. Howe, the Rocket, Beliveau..... Kids enjoy your heroes while you can because time passes so quickly and one day you find yourself like me....old , with great memories of times gone by.
i meet him and i got to talk to him a bit and he is such a nice guy and for being 85 he is really strong and he is really really hilarious!
REST IN PEACE CHAMPS!
a great hockey player and a greater canadian.rest in peace gros bill.
Dude ,they brought Gordie Howe to introduce Le Gros Jean . That's class
Belliiieveauuuuu!!! #4 ❤💙
Les Canadiens are the epitome of class.
Mr Believeau's photo
should be in the dictionary under 'class'.
a Detroiter
TWO OF MY IDOLS
Legends. RIP both.
A legend to introduce a legend
Have these days..really passed us bye..I think so😎
TWO OD MY IDOLS AND HEROES. AN OTHER ONE BELIVEAU RIP
Rest in peace #4 Jean Beliveau 🏆
Rip both legends
I heard yesterday that Gordie got a stem cell procedure done in Mexico and is back home doing amazingly fantastic kicking a soccer ball and playing hockey with his grandkids and doing household chores. Wow !
A very special five minutes of video...
Rest easy Gordie.
that's the Montreal hockey fans, imo! We just LOVE our hockey, not just the Habs!
La Prince Royal du Hockey Jean Beliveau
Ah, the stories THEY could tell.....
My second youngest sister got his autograph during Lobster carnival week Summerside PEI 68 or 69 , When I was 5 for my birthday I got to watch a hockey game on TV just the end of first period. Montreal beat Boston 5-0 been a Habs fan ever since.
Classiest player ever!
Two real men!
Beliveau a 52 ans ici!! Il semble manquer d'aisance malgré un âge pas si avancé... Dur d'imaginer que Howe jouait dans la LNH au même âge. Il fait vraiment plus que son âge même s'il est élégant.
Gordie holding up the rockets jersey...sweet...
Thanks for postin'!
Imagine being inducted by M.R Hockey himself. Where do you go from there?
For future reference, just in case anyone from the CBC happens to watch this video: Terrible TV direction, as the moment Jean comes out and shakes hands with Gordie, they cut to showing fans in the stands...WHY? How often do we get to see legends like Howe and Beliveau TOGETHER?
Gordie is my hero .. but good lord did any sport ever have a classier ambassador than Mr Beliveau ?
Legends Gordie #9 Summit Series 74 ' My #9
What has happened to the Habs? To think that they once had such a wonderful player as Jean Beliveau that led the greatest franchise in hockey to cup after cup and now that team is a third rate mess today. I sure wish that the Canadiens had such a player today. As a kid watching the Habs back then, and friends who liked other teams, Jean Beliveau was an idol. No one anywhere had anything bad to say about him.
.
Jean Beliveau was rare for his generation... and nowadays they don't many any like him at all anymore. #GreatestGeneration
RIP
I got both of their Jerseys.
It's a damn shame that such a proud franchise has fallen on hard times. Hopefully some day soon we'll be able to say once again - the Montreal Canadiens, Stanley Cup champions! I want to see it once more before I die.
How long do you plan to live? Does the Guinness Book Of Records know about this?
You got to fix the volume, can't hear it😊
I am looking at Gordie who must be in his 80's at this point, and thinking, "Boy, I wouldn't like to be facing him on the ice at any time."
Did you have to pull away from these two great athletes just as they met, to focus on some of the crowd???
Le capitaine des capitaines.
I hope Ray emery is playing goalie for them on that great big rink. RIP
Good evening I'm gordie howe
@wovokanarchy up and down the ice all night, wide open play, fire wagon hockey......get it?
oh my god its so goddam annoying, instead of showing us one of the greatest cut the camera to show some fans in the crowd then do the same thing when beliveau was about to shake hand with howe
MOMOarabe Right!?! I thought the same thing.
Me too! Thought exactly the same what a shame
@wovokanarchy when the players go back and forth
@khav11 Viggo apparently is a huge Habs fan!
watch out for his elbows.
@wovokanarchy
Up and down the ice, offense and defense.
"Up and down all night" What's he talking about?
Both of them are dead. RIP😥
HAHAHA le gars à 5:39 qui a emmené sa propre bière
Viggo @3:29
@uberhaxor69 Detroit and Montreal may be friendly rivals today, but they definitely were NOT back in the day. Don't believe me? Ask Gordie. (Note: If Red Wings were in the same division as Canadiens and played each other as often as Boston and Montreal do, I dare say you'd be referencing "those shitheads in Detroit", oui? Absolument.
somebody screwed up that jersey, it was a #9 montreal..lol
I abhor the canadiens but beliveau was a class act all the way.
if we were in the same division as Montreal.. oh my. I already hate Montreal I would probably hate them 10 times more. U never know soon the wings will probably be moving to the east.
mr Henri still does not like gordie
Hockey before 1980 sucked
