It was SO refreshing to see a photographer using reflectors by themselves, without an assistant! That's my biggest thing....I don't have the money to pay for an assistant at this time.

The reflector with a handle is a great option and Hope uses it to great effect here. I would also challenge you to consider off camera flash. If you throw a Godox Ad200 on a cheap light stand with a shoot through umbrella, you will get even bolder, sharp, and dramatic photos PLUS you don't have anything in your hands but your camera.

I spent the first 3 years of my photography career only using a 50mm. It's such a great lens to gain skill with. At this point, my primary portrait lens for an individual subject is the RF 100 mm macro. It results in STUNNINGLY sharp subjects with creamy backgrounds. However, I've also been experimenting shooting at f3.5 and 4.0. It gets the face 100% tack sharp. The background still blurs a little, but with modern editing software you can boost that digitally and no one knows. I like knowing my subject is super sharp, and then I can enhance background blur in one button click.

Love that! 100mm is a great lens.

Hey, what size triangle reflector do you use? I see there is a 31” and a 39”. I want it to be big enough and easy to handle but not too big. The one you have in this video seemed perfect. Thanks!! (By the way, I love your work!!!)

Also be aware of your backgrounds. Try to avoid poles/trees/etc from appearing like they are sticking out of your subject’s heads

So pretty! How is her face totally in focus when you are so close at 2.2? Where are you putting your focal point? I want to get a prime lens and shoot like you do, but it seems like when I get close to a client, their entire face isn't in focus even at 3.2!
