In an interview with IGN, Randy Pitchford was asked what his personal favourite game in the Borderland series was.
Rather than naming an existing game, Pitchford instead started talking about a project that was in development, without specifically saying it was a Borderlands title.
“Look, we haven’t even announced anything of it,” he replied. “Clearly, we’re working on something.
“And I know what we’re working on, and holy shit… it’s the greatest thing we’ve ever done. And I can’t wait, but it’s not time yet. It’s not time yet. There will be a time.”
A fan theory on Reddit believes Borderlands 4 may be announced on March 19, given that the official Borderlands account on X has started posting what appears to be weekly recaps of the previous games in the series.
The theory believes that the announcement will tie in with the PAX East expo, which is where Borderlands 3 was also announced.

what if Borderlands 4 release date is hidden in Borderlands movie poster? they always done that before with the hiding in plain sight
Got over 600 hrs in all three games so I hope this is true. Borderlands is the only game that really makes them money so odds are this is true
I would love to see a physical disc version of the vault collection for modern consoles but the rumor about B4 that would be interesting is the create your own vault hunter a la Tiny Tina Wonderlands style with lots of skins/outfits but…I can also see this as a grand opportunity for plenty of cosmetic microtransactions.
Pax East shedule is online since yesterday at least and GBX are no where to be find in it and they haven't announced their presence on their side. So if it's not a "suprise guest" type of thing, there's no expectations to have for a reveal at Pax East. Adding that we haven't got the Pre-Sequel recap yesterday.
Gearbox already proved themselves to be a one-hit wonder several times over. Attempting to make any other game would be a complete waste of their time and talent. Hopefully Pitchford has learned this and also takes the criticisms of Borderlands 3 to heart. Then maybe we could finally get a Borderlands 2.99. Borderlands 3 was just a step too far in the cringe department.

@@bobrooney3336 started in the pre-sequel, but wasn't all that bad, was insufferable in 3. tina's wonderland was just a bad game, and I skipped tales 2 entirely. might as well call 3 girlboss the game. I couldn't stand it, and I'm a girl.
Cringe yes, but the more overtly progressive or anti-establishment aspects of the first three games' writing came off as genuine enough to serve the narrative. BL3 didn't even have the more substantive critiques of social tropes sprinkled in, it was just pure cringe which was likely written by people who have a Girlboss coffee mug and unironically sigh and say, "ugh, men, am I right?"
Games can get pretty woke and still be narratively appealing, but not when they lack writing talent to begin with.

@positiveproductions6699 Ignore everyone the writing is bad for certain characters it doesn't ruin the game.
Gameplay is the best in the series and the dlcs are some of the best alongside bo2 dlcs
Dude just give it a go vast improvement hope 4 will be just as fun
I didn't mind the early parts of the pre-sequel story. I didn't enjoy much of the BL3 story. The dlc for that one was much better.
Only way they'll get me to care about wokelands 4 is if they do a complete 180 from the third game
I hope they kill off ava in 5 minutes. Tone down everyone having to be silly, verbose, and full of quips a bit, and have a real villian and stories
then it wouldn't be borderlands you essentially want a game that's not borderlands at that point

Get over it BL3 was awesome and you're wrong. Missing out on 3 games of Jack? Go back to the rock u live under. it was nice to actually have some different characters and the vaulting that was added was game changing. Go home you're drunk
bro that borderlands movie is going to be hot garbage and is so bad its been done for years and years and is only coming out now, because its going to make so little money at box that they absolutely had to wait for the pandemic to be "over"
