Fake speedruns are bad but I don't think anyone need to hate someone for this for more than 2 or 3 months is. The obvious fake runs are funny I guess.

Drem was probably just a dream fan who wanted to do what dream does but wasnt good enough, so he cheated and got exposed by his favourite youtuber Dream himself... now if he does an actual speedrun, people wont care because he is already known for cheating. I feel bad for him
Dream also cheated "'unintentionally" but nobody really cares. It shows how fame and 9 year olds can bury the truth.

Really makes me hate myself for spending so long on my video lol
He did a 10 page document about how his speedrun is legit. But when he is about to get caught, he only reveal 70% of the truth. If he wants to admit and ask for forgiveness, at least be 100% truthful. What I meant is that when he does the document, he should have seen his game was modified. But all he say is "I did not know I cheated, not on purpose"
There was never an apology, only a pastebin. Since it's his first drama and shit I don't expect better.

@@FizzyBanger i don’t think dream was lying that he cheated mistakenly cuz my friend on java thought of doing a speedrun (forgot the time he got) but i remember he told he’ll get 11th place on leaderboard then he saw that his world had a data pack which he used to troll me (not lying this is true)
"Not lying this is true" has the exact same energy as "100% real (NOT FAKE)" so I hope that's what you were going for
To those that don’t understand mods
A mod from 1.15 doesn’t just magically work in 1.16
They are initialized in code to run on certain versions
Plus if it’s changing drop odds on the next version then it’s changing odds on the previous version as it would be coded todo so

I'll be honest, the Minecraft community is pretty amazing, but I hate how youtubers just make videos about trends, call it fake speedrun, 100 days, "caves, ocean, etc world", Minecraft but..., etc. It isn't fun, most of the time looks totally fake and fixed, and the originality is below the ground, curious when we speak about a game that's about creativity.
there definitely needs to be more originality in the MC community, I agree. But the thing is, these trends have large audiences, and as long as ppl keep enjoying them, then the trends won't die. Hopefully, some new trends and new ideas will come up soon!
Someone with 2k subscribers: you cheated on your speedrun dream
Dream: Umm actually, the biggest thing that I think should make “the why” suspicious is what happened AFTER the
1.16 runs. After I ran 1.16, I hopped off and one of the very next days I ran 1.15. Now this
doesn’t seem significant, except for the fact that I had a run where I entered the stronghold at
17:45. The current record at the time being 21:26. Meaning I had over 3:30 to beat the game to
get world record, and longer just to get a top 5 time. I was just short on pearls due to ender men
spawning, and wasn’t able to get world record.
However, in an alternate universe where I get a few endermen spawns on the way to the
stronghold during the night, which is actually the more likely scenario, I end up in the end
around 18:30, with a pretty damn good chance at getting world record (I had the beds to one
cycle). The interesting thing isn’t that I got this time, it’s that I got this time on a non modded
client, and I got this time with generally average RNG, on a verifiable seed that can’t be
cheated. If this run wasn’t cheated, obviously that would probably imply that my other (3) 1.15
world records weren’t cheated either. This is something that seems fairly accepted amongst the
mod team and speedrun discord, especially because my initial world record was on a very
unoptimized category where I chopped wood for 7 minutes.
So then that poses again the question, why. Why when I know that I am fully capable of taking a
world record legit, on stream, on a different version that I care about, would I decide to randomly
cheat in a very specific way on a version that I have clarified I don’t really care about on many
occasions. Why would I risk my entire reputation just to get a sub 25 time on a version I don’t
care about, and then not cheat to get world record on a version I main.
Now, that makes total sense, but only if you believe that I didn’t cheat previously. So then the
question I have for you if you believe that I cheated my offline 1.15 runs, is again, why would I
do this then? In your eyes, I was able to get away with faking 3 world records, offline, with very
little questions asked and no accusations. If that was the case, why would I stream myself
cheating for no reason? I’ve expressed on many occasions in private and public my disdain for
streaming speedruns, and that I prefer to run offline by a large margin. I had also gotten explicit
permission to run offline from Willz, and based on the speedrun rules it was perfectly fine. I also
ran 1.15 online and had near identical results to my offline runs that were published.
If I was cheating for “clout” or any benefit, why would I not just splice a 1.16 world record offline
and look like a god? Or why would I not just do the exact same thing for 1.15. Why would I settle
for live streaming for a sub 25 time, and then moving on to running a category for WR that
doesn’t even have the same system I supposedly cheated (bartering). To me, that doesn’t make
any sense whatsoever, and I feel like to most reasonable people it wouldn’t either.
Now continuing on with “the why”, let’s talk about further motive. I care about speedrunning a lot
as a whole, and I think that’s something that’s very easily provable through my public and
private actions. I’ve helped grow the community and the major members of it, while always
trying to make sure that speedrunning has integrity. I’ve helped the mod team on multiple
occasions try to and succeed at catching splicers and cheaters.

incorrect, Dream held the record for 1.16+, Random Seed, Glitchless at the time Drem uploaded his World Record attempt, but it was later taken by german Speedrunner NiceTwice, who was featured on the leaderboards in every commentary video talking about Drem.

Hey well researched vid ngl but you didn't mention this video about it (czcams.com/video/G3Yzk-3SZfs/video.html) on the Dream cheating situation. It's basically Karl Jobsts newest vid about the situation summarizing the drama and explaining missinformation about it too and in the end concluded that the cheating wasn't intentional with others like antvenom saying it wasn't intentional as well.

Edit: oh I watched more of the video and I found out the cheating was already proven
Before I watch. 2 Names. Dream, and the guy who caught Dream, MinecrAvenger. Dream had mods running that increased his drop rates for pearl trades and blaze rods. A math youtuber used only the code to peg the odds of his luck at something around 1 in 1 SEPTILLION. Dream later confessed and said he had mistakenly had the mods installed and thought they were only server side mods. Believe it or not. Later, one of the guys who caught Dream, MinecrAvenger was exposed for being the biggest cheater the Minecraft Speedrun community has ever seen. And the story of him being caught is much more interesting. It involves generating ever chest loot table possible to see what was impossible, ender dragon perch times, and the rabbit hole goes on. I honestly believe most of dreams speed runs were real. Whatever happened in the end whether it was intentional or not, happened in the end, I think. But that's just an opinion, and opinions are like assholes. However, dream's behavior upon being caught was textbook cheater behavior. He went so far as to try to out math the real math with someone he claimed was a university professor. If there was a real professor, they would have gotten the odds right... 1 in something Septillion which is way worse odds than even the Speedrun.com people came up with. But those were the real odds. The math dude that did a video on it is legit, and it's a good watch if you like math/probabilities/etc. You'll find me in the comments defending dream regarding actual proof of wrongdoing vs probabilities, but I was wrong. Won't be the last time either.

If you are cheating in your speedruns and doing it well, you can easily spot people that don't do it as well as you.
