There's one... yes. I plugged it and everything works fine as is.

I have an '05 V8 that I use for work, I was just looking at mine trying to figure out a way to do this. I guess Volvo moved the ECU at some point, mine sits on top of the air box. I'm trying to figure out a way to modify the box to support the ECU while allowing me to install a cone filter set up. Doesn't look like you had that problem. Looks great man, nice job.
I'm also going to install an oil catch can. I've been reading about them, they replace the pcv breather and collect any oil mist to keep your intake and throttle body clean.
Thanks. You have me confused... Volvo never had an '05 V8 model year; at least not that I know of. Are you sure it's a V8 model? Either way, I never heard of an ECU mounted on the airbag before... thats weird!
@@Pedal2Metal_on_CZcams I have a 2007 V8 and the ECU is on top of the air filter...maybe that's what the person wanted to tell you.
Yes. I also have an 07 XC90 V8 sport and I can confirm that at the top of the air box is a mounted heat sink with thick wires.. you’d never know it was there unless you serviced it and lifted the thin plastic cover that allows you access to the air box torxs. And the (heatsink/ECU) is actually exposed to the air in the air box.. so perhaps it is being kept cool by the airflow. I am also looking to modify this since I just rip the exhaust off and gutted the rear cats that form the Y before the middle muffler/ silencer.. I love these 4.4 v8s

As stated... I only use it for car shows. I use a k and n in the factory box currently. It was a fun experiment. It actually didn't affect performance in the slightest tho; meaning I did not notice temp affecting intake temps. Thank you for watching and commenting!

Curious as to which gasket you used to fit the maf on to the spectre? There are 3 in the Amazon link. Also, someone on there stated the maf adapter cracked. How is it holding up as of now or when you had it on your vehicle? Thanks.
If you make the intake shorter you may not need the helmholtz resonator. some math would need to be done there. Additionally, the XC90 does not have those resonators.

It looks good but performance wise won’t make any difference. The standard air intake is better just replace the filter for racing one such k&n. The whole idea is to get fresh and cool air in to the engine. If you place your filter directly in to the engine compartment it’s only getting the hot air from there. You won’t improve anything even make it worse. Yes it’s nice to looks at.
You're stating all the obvious facts about intakes. This was an experiment; mainly to see how it sounds and as I state only for car shows. I run a k&n panel filter in my factory box as my everyday filter. I still want to make a nice carbon fiber air box sometime when I get time.

I'm trying to do a project with my B5 Audi S4. I have one of these motors available to me if I want it. I'm trying to figure out if I can fit this motor in an Audi B5 S4. Is the design of it far too incompatible with the Audi?
I highly doubt it, the engine barley fits here. This engine was made to fit in the s80 nd xc90
It will fit all P2 Volvos, you have to check dimensions for your application
Is it not true that the transmission in these cars is maxed out from the factory? I was told not to do upgrades because of this.
I've heard they are only good for 350hp.

Volvo uses Aisin transmission. Same ones used by Toyota. As long that you change the fluid and don't abuse it, you should be fine.

What did you do with the crank case vent hose that ran to the bottom of the stock plastic tube
I stuck a black rubber cap over it. I forgot to mention that on the video; sorry. I don't think it does much of anything that i could tell. Its not a vacuum line. I think it's purely for emissions.

have you had a chance to track your MPG? any improvement? i know when i went high flow spt filter and put a "ram air" set up on my wrx my mpg improved and it had more power at higher rpm (downshifting to pass).
Not yet. It seems to have actually dropped very slightly, but that is most likely me. Lol. It does feel alot peppier than it did (like for passing like u said); thats for sure! Plus it sounds good. I'm sure the purists would have a fit! 😃

I admire a desire to modify these gems but this is just wasting your time. You left out the most important part, the comparison. I promise you the stock filter will flow much more air than that cone thing will and its 100% cold air induction.
As stated several times, it was merely a test for noise and was to be used at car shows. I run the stock air box daily.
