    I love this podcast. Ordered the book. I’ve lost 80 lbs and now I have friends and loved ones saying I am too skinny (5’9” at 156 lbs) and they are concerned. Where was that concern when I had a bunch of belly fat, diabetes, bad cholesterol levels, etc.

    I went WFPB to lose weight, and I stopped exercising while I lost 27 lbs. For me, it was about focusing & educating myself on a lifestyle change. I was also very busy mom with 2 young children, so this really worked for me. I added exercise back in equation less then 1 year later. 6 years later, and the weight is still off.

    I eat breakfast like a king, lunch like a prince and dinner like a pauper. This suits me as I'm a morning person and go to bed quite early. I have an early dinner too. I could not skip breakfast and only start eating at 12 as my brain needs food in the mornings.

    This is the first time I have paused a video and gone to Amazon to buy a book. Such a powerful message. I have lost 120 pounds but then my weight loss stopped. I still want to lose another 30 pounds but have not lost anything in 5 months. Such a simple statement from Julie.....I am eating too much. Thank you.

    At first I was struggling to give up my favourite food (nutty cakes, etc.), but now I don't miss these trigger foods anymore. I've been on a WFPB lifestyle for over 2 years and I've created other wonderful, simple dishes that I love and that I can eat large quantities of without putting on weight. I've created other food memories & associations. I leave the nutty cakes and the vegan Nutella in the past and out of the house. And it gets easier as time goes on. Not eating these trigger foods is not a struggle now, I barely give them a thought.

      I weigh daily...for decades. I'd rather need to lose 1 lbs. than 10. In my case, I also have to monitor that I'm not losing weight I don't need to lose.

    I also weigh myself every day without being stressful, just educational..I see how my body reacts with my choices so yes it is a tool not boogie man 😄 I also feel better with two meals than 3+. Thank you for this interesting interview 🙏🏼💚💪🏼☺️

    😯The ballet teachers are the real OGs, the way hers openly cakes out *"...Julianna, watch your snacks..."* If the ballet teachers learned nutrition we'd all be good to go with discipline and beneficial knowledge

    Physical signs of hunger, such as feeling woozy, are real for older women who have ignored their hunger signals for years and no longer have estrogen as a buffer. We have trained ourselves to not hear the standard signal and end up with low-energy availability (LEA).

      @@Engine2PlantStrong LOVED the book! I got it on Kindle because I live outside the USA and wanted it pronto! The recipes look fantastic and easy. And even thought I've read ALLLLLL the plant-based books, Julieanna's book has something new to offer. I read the content before the recipes in one sitting, and have a new plan for losing the menopausal fanny pack that appeared seemingly out of nowhere. Sorry if that's TMI. :)

    I went plant based, DF/GF. I’ve been doing this for 3 weeks and have only lost 3 lbs! What am I doing wrong?! I was told I don’t need to track calories/ macros. I have a cruciferous and chia shake with water and just a tiny amount of fruit for flavor for my first meal of the day. I’m eating greens/ kale for dinner with quinoa or beans, some days avocado or pumpkin seeds. Sometimes I’ll have oatmeal with flax. I’m also working out 3 times a week. Very frustrating!

      This has been a while now so maybe you’ve already figured it out but actually 3 lbs in 3 weeks is great! It’s said it’s good to lose anywhere between 1-2 lbs in a week. It might seem slow but over the course of time it adds up! And while there’s no need to count calories because we essentially eat low calorie foods (if you eat based on calorie density and eating mostly foods less than 600 calories per lb and do the 50/50 plate), but I’m sure you know you still need to be at a calorie deficit. Sometimes I still track my meals in Cronometer to get a sense of my calorie intake as well as my nutrient intake for the day to make sure I’m still headed in the right direction.

      1 pound a week is great. I sugg😢watching fat intake. Avocado and nuts have a lot of good benefits but also contain a lot of healthy fats.

    I’m confused about consuming FAT now. Dr Esselstyn, Dr T Colin Campbell, and many many more say use NO OILS at all, but Julieanna says to be careful of ‘fatphobia.’ 😵‍💫

      If you have any heart condtion No fat of any kind. Seeds, nuts, avocado, olives as a condiment once at wt maintence, keeping an eye on your body so that the condiment is not a daily staple. No Oil of any kind for anyone. This comment is meant to help. All food, vegggies, grains, fruit and legumes have fat, this why wfpb is low fat. We can't eat fat free.

      Her message is to love yourself. Having a phobia or obsessing over every little thing is not being kind to yourself. Except she says that but then you can’t eat before 12 and you should weigh yourself everyday. Pick your obsessions. I am very strict about what goes into my mouth but I simply want to just live a healthy life without animal products. I’m hoping I can get there. I’ve given up so many of the normal things around me that I won’t go crazy if we eat out and there’s some oil in the dish. Trying to be kind to myself. I will not eat only 2 times a day, for example. That’s for sure.

    How do u deal with trying to eat clean but you're surrounded by tempting foods bc you have to cook for your family who aren't a part of your healthy diet

    "The Dorito Effect" is the reason you feel compelled to eat things, a lot of it isn't even conscious, it's subconscious. Take a McDonald's French fry or even those oven fries that were referred to. For whatever reason I guess they are transitioning to a new recipe so the current ingredients in an Australian Macca's french fries had 2 recipes. First of all they are both sugar coated with dextrose so the moment you start eating them it's a full on sugar hit, coating is more effective than imbedded into a food and on one of the recipes it had food additive 220 which is some type of sulfite and also 330 citric acid described as an acidity regulator and some phosphate salt either potassium or sodium. Just out of curiosity I looked up frozen veggies and none of them had a single additive, just the veggies. Why would McDonald's need all these additives for a frozen food that goes directly into hot oil, answer is they don't but giving you small doses of multiple nutrients keeps your desire for more, it's the added nutrition that's driving you to eat it and you don't even know it. The doses of those nutrients are so small though so you will never get full from your dietary requirement of sulfur or phosphorus or citric acid or whatever and the regular nutrient of potassium has been partially removed which again helps in not filling you up. Because I am a person who looks at ingredients on say a packet of supermarket chips I have noticed the addition to most brands of sugar when it previously didn't exist on simple flavors like salt and vinegar and adding dairy products to heaps of things which didn't have them previously. Foods are being developed to be more and more addictive. Advise people if they are going to buy oven fries to get ones with 2 ingredients, oil and potato but that preferably they should buy a potato wash it, cut it with skin on in at least half inches thick fries and put it directly into hot oil, it will retain it's nutrition and be far lower in fat but just as satisfying if not more per calorie intake. As vegans I guess you will avoid dairy but it's not the only method they will use to addict you.

    pretty amazing, i paid a nutritionist 600.00 dollars over 3 months and only lost 1lbs, so this would be interesting, worth checking it out🤷‍♂️

    Wait…I’m a black woman 51 yrs old, 5’5, 177 lbs 30% bmi size 8 I workout and lift at least 2-3x a week mostly plant-based. (I eat fish on occasion) According to her my weight should be 100lb+ 5 lbs per inch…that’s 125 (10% give or take) while weighing every day.
    That sounds like a eating disorder waiting to happen.
    Rip do you agree with what she’s saying??

      Mrs Tosh. I have stats very similar to yours except I don't work out and I am size 12. I am not sure if its universal but a 30 bmi is the start of being considered obese. I know that 125 was considered the bottom of my weight range and 140 the top back in the 80's. Of course that may change as we age. I believe 23-24 is a healthier bmi. I agree with that thought that weighing everyday is good for you. I sorta get Julieanne's reasoning. I'd rather just feel good in my clothes and be happy with what I see in the mirror. I am just starting into plantbased and what I see in the mirror right now is not my happy place. Good luck with your journey. :)

      BMI is not a perfect measurement. It is a fast screening tool to warn physicians to look more closely for obesity issues. www.cdc.gov/obesity/downloads/bmiforpactitioners.pdf

      At the end of the day one has to choose the weight they feel comfortable in. You can use it as a guide but it doesn’t have to be the goal. For me 135 should be ideal but atm I feel like a bit higher than that would be more comfortable for me. I personally don’t think it’s an eating disorder waiting to happen; I have been safely and sustainably getting closer to my ideal weight via the WFPB lifestyle.

      Start with 100 pounds for 5 ft tall then Add 5 lbs for every inch over 5 ft tall.

    I just hope you aren’t all about selling a bunch of plant based food like products like most end up doing instead of promoting real food. I’m 5’3 but being 115 lbs I would be too skinny . I’m not sure I agree with that.
