Please build an enclosure if you buy this sort of raw frame laser. It only takes a stray reflection for a fraction of a second to give you permanent vision damage or blindness. The beam itself is usually invisible. What you see is stuff glowing from the invisible IR light frying it.
The safety glasses that come with these cheap lasers are also not always rated for the wavelengths the laser module puts out. Esentially being useless.
These are awesome, don't get me wrong. But like many awesome things it will injure you or others if you don't know what you are playing around with.
An enclosure with a safety switch is easy to build and may save you from life long disability. Even "just" having one eye with messed up focus or blind spots will annoy you for the rest of your life and always remind you of that one time you tried to foolishly engrave some metal wearing nothing but cheap "safety" goggles. Because with IR laser light you can totally fry your retinas gawking at the cool laser cutting action and not even notice it until it's to late.
Same goes for your pets, family members or friends. Anyone in line of sight of the machine.
