Mods:
Change C6 for a 470pF to move the low-pass filter on the feedback loop of the op-amp from 2.8kHz to 33.9kHz. No harsh harmonics will come from that, don't worry, but you'll regain all that trebly goodness you're fighting not to lose when cables start acting up.
Change the pot from 10k to 100k and R9 from 1k to 180 Ohms. The pot will allow you to go down to 0dB, while the change in R9 will let you reach 20db without negatively affecting the output impedance of the circuit.
There are other ways to go about this without changing the pot, but I think it's well worth it. Other approaches require other sacrifices, playing with other values, doing extra math or straight up having to replace way too many components, making the mod harder than it needs to be.

Thanks! I'm currently using it as an actual booster and it's always on. I just love the way it just "pre-heats" the signal without any side changes to the sound. Hope you enjoy yours as much as i do mine.
