    I dont understand why water is dark on T1 and bright on T2 :-(

      It has to do with its relaxation times for T1 & T2.
      T1: Dark because it hasn’t enough time to fully recover longitudinal relaxation. We haven’t received enough (large) signal back so it’s dark. T1 time is long for water (fluids).
      T2: bright because it has decayed sufficiently from horizontal plane for T2 relaxation of that tissue. We receive a high signal back and that’s why it’s bright.
      T2 times are longer on some sequences which allow greater signal…bright image

      T1 images
      TR short
      TE short
      T2 Images
      TR long
      TE long

    The net magnetization will also be rotating until T2 relaxation happens. That is not brought out here... the diagrams are therefore schematic and inaccurate...
