Трапы обычно идут с водяным затвором сразу .,и если идет запах ,значит в системе отсутствует дыхание ..При сбросе воды с унитаза -вода высасывается из сифона ,а новая не натекает ,в итоге имеем поток грязного воздуха из канализации. Решает эту проблему специальный обратный клапан ,который ставиться в доступном месте отдельно .
Что за обратный клапан, и как ставить? У меня иногда выходит вонь из душевого слива

Just pour water into the p-trap below the floor. That’s what it is for, to stop sewer gas from coming up. People aren’t aware that the water evaporates from the trap. Just fill it up periodically.
Yes agree with you all the ‘P’ trap requires is to have water in it. To clean the P trap we only need NaHCO3 and vinegar at 5%acidity. Pour the two in and leave the bathroom. The H2S that is generated will be unbearable.
If it’s a drain that doesn’t get used often then fill the trap with oil or vegetable oil. It won’t evaporate, but still accept any water received and still drain properly.

This is merely a temporary solution. The floor drain should have had a proper water seal as part of it's manufacturing process in the first place.

Pour some mineral oil into the drain. It will fill the p-trap, and not evaporate as fast as water.

This way of design is very stupid ! . Why don't you people have s traps on plumbing fixtures all plumbing and toilets should have s traps on them to stop sewer gas returning into house a straight pipe with no s trap is wrong no wonder your house smells .

If you mop the floor once a week the p trap will never evaporate so low that you smell the gas. If you won't mop your floors, add some oil to the p trap so that evaporation is not an issue.

If you are in your own, independent house, then all you need to do is, reroute this pipe to a dedicated soak pit, and you'll be ok.

Very bad idea i must say ! The soap scum and hair and dirt is going to be stuck in this tube. Within no time will it get clogged. Apparently, the trap wasn't properly designed. Fix that especially knowing ur skills. Worst case take a thin rubber sheet and cover the drain when not in use :)
