'Zuhause bist immer nur du' here could have a double meaning in german. Once is 'you're always the only one at home' (single parent), but it could also mean 'you're always home for me'. What gives it a much deeper meaning for me. Same with 'Du bist zuhause für immer - und mich' - 'You're home forever - and for me'

"It means that his home is alsways his dad in this case." totally agree, i think it's pretty obviously here. He litterly says "you = home" and says that to 1 person (in that case his dad) it is like "You as person in person are always my home. no matter where" something like that.

Since you are interested in the German language: this song starts with a good demonstration of what you can do with prefixes in German. Take one word (gezogen- that’s ziehen in a past tense) and change its meaning by adding those prefixes
    Gezogen- pulled
    Angezogen- dressed
Ausgezogen- here: undressed (but also moved out)
Umgezogen- here: moved house (but also changed clothes)
    Großgezogen- raised
    Also:
    Eingezogen- moved in
    Entzogen- taken away
    Verzogen- spoiled ( children)
Vorgezogen- preferred ( but also pulled out from behind or let seeds grow inside before you plant them outside)
    Hinterzogen- evaded (taxes)
I stop here because I don’t want to discourage you from learning German. I think it’s fun to discover things like that.

This is truly my favourite song of theirs, so happy that you reacted to this. ❤
“Heimat” in German actually means so much more than “homeland”. It is where you feel comfortable and at home. It is the feeling of arriving and being able to fully let go. And it doesn’t necessarily have to be a place. Like Henning says “Ich hab keine Heimat, ich hab nur dich” (I don’t have a Heimat, I just have you), Heimat can also be found in people.
Henning said once that he always thought he didn’t have a “Heimat” - until he moved out of Köln and really missed it.
The line „wir warn in Prag, Paris und Wien, in der Bretagne und Berlin“ actually lists the places Henning visited with his father during Christmas. And they weren’t in Copenhagen („Aber nicht in Kopenhagen“) because their train was snowed in on Christmas eve.

I always thought that this song is just so reassuring for parents and children who grew to be adults. That they love each other the same even when one party couldn't express it trough puberty or conflict. It must be wonderful for a parent to get this deep gratitude from the adult kids after all the sacrifice. Makes me want to hug my mom and dad forever🥹
Also the songs instrumentals and vocals are soooo fun!

This is one of the first songs that i heard by them in German and i fell in love with this band because of this song and Pocahontas. I think his love for his father truly shines through here. It's a beautiful song. As for which album you should do, i think "Schlagschatten" had most of my favorites, but "Es ist Abend und wir sitzen bei mir" is really good too.

A big yes to album reactions!!!!
Their discography is a bit confusing if you try to find it just by googling, because they have recorded many of their songs several times, they have live records & EP:s etc. I was skimming through their discography when I was trying to decide which ones to buy, and ended up ordering Alles Nix Konkretes (2016), Schlagschatten (2018) and Es ist Abend und wir sitzen bei Mir (2023). They also made a covid album called 12 in 2020, but I didn't order it (yet) because it was reeeeaallly experimental & I have not quite wrapped my head around it yet. So, if I were you I would start with Alles Nix Konkretes & move forward from there. I enjoy all of their albums, and it's great to hear how they evolve through the years. But you'll see what I mean when you listen to those albums as a whole. I'd recommend the chronological order.

it still gets you sometimes when you get caught unawares on the radio or so, even though it is now quite an old song x... In many ways the best album to react to is the lyrics video of '12', it is only 39 minutes long and created during Covid and very conceptual, showing you a different view of them as experimental musicians as well as getting a video (there are English subtitles, too) czcams.com/video/3Zi0MYQK5k8/video.htmlfeature=shared ....

The seemingly inconspicuous line "We've been to Prague, Paris and Vienna, to Brittany and Berlin but not to Copenhagen" has a special background. It was only years after the song was released that Henning May mentioned in passing in a podcast what it was all about:
His father used to take him to a different city every Christmas. They set off on Christmas Eve and spent Christmas together in a different city every year. This took them to Prague, Paris, Vienna, Brittany and Berlin. But on the way to Copenhagen, the train got stuck in the snow and they had to turn back to Cologne.
The whole song is very relatable for anyone who has parents. But I like the fact that at first only his father could understand the reference. That makes the song even more personal.
edit: Just saw that @Hannah-lc3nu alreay mentioned it earlier.

This song always resonated with me. It perfectly encapsulates how I was in my School/College days and then the regret of not thinking about what it does to the person that always gave everything for you unconditionally, but being too scared to tell them and cause more hurt. Them being more worried about you then you yourself have been.
The feeling of having been an ungrateful brat to the person who just wants you to be well realizing how good they have been to you, while you realize in retrospective how badly you treated them in your youth.

@@walterooski Thank you so much. Isn't it strange? You do these recation videos. You do them for fun, maybe for some little income, for sharing your love for music or for many other reasons... and than, in this very moment in time someone for the other side of our globe watches your video coincidentally in the middle of the night, searching for a place to reflect his multiple feelings. And suddenly your video brings so much sense to one out of 8 billion people and is a little light in that night. I'm sure you have your own purposes and meanings for your videos. But now there is another. It's just a meaning/sense for me, but it is there right now! And this is good! I hope while realizing this, it brings you a little smile, like your video brought to me!
Keep calling your parents, telling them that you love them. I did so and it makes everything so much more easy to bear, because everything was said. It is a very hard decision to make, when the doctors tell you, that it is now up to you to decide, weather lots of medical machines should hold the rest of life in a body or not. I was not prepared for this. It is so hard to decide, that it is in his will, to shut the machines down and let him go his last way. But: He went in the knowledge that he did good, that there was nothing left to say. We hold his hands, told him he's free to go and that we don't hold him back. It hurts, beside beeing sure, that it was the best decision. My wife didn't had the chance to tell her dad, how much he meant to her in his last days and she didn't found the courage to tell him all the years before, when life was that normal life like it always has been. She struggled a lot with all these never told words, she now would like have said before... I really got you, when you told your audience: "Just call your parents - just because"!
One will never know what will happen. From one blink to another everything can chance and so it did here. My dad had fun with me and 2 days later he was bumped out of consciousness and never woke up again. We had 3 days left... It would have been to late, to tell him. So keep calling - just because!

    - " Hengstin" ( its a fantasy word it means stallion like a mare but the leader mare) --> because its the most different style but the most popular song and great
    - " Baukräne" or " Himalaya" --> because of the lyrics
    2) Emil Bulls is a also well known german but english speaking alternativ metalband
    - "jaws of oblivion" --> is the most popular song
    3) Guano Apes is a female fronted english speaking band. Please don´t watch live videos ;-)
    - "Lords of the boards" --> is the second most popular
