IMGs can apply for the competent authority pathway. For example if someone does PLAB 1 and 2 and complete foundation year 1 in the UK, he/she can apply for provisional registration without having to sit for the AMC examinations

hi i am a gynaecologist in India for the past 8yrs and have got PR in aus,would like to know if i need to go through AMC pathway before going for GP training.
i am going through the specialist pathway in RANZCOG,and not sure if they would declare my degree as comparable,in that case if i have to start from scratch,do i need to give AMC part 1 and 2 before i enter into training? followed by the house job?

It sounds like you mentioned that someone with experience will not have to write the AMC exam? What kind of experience are you talking about?
For example, I am a non-specialist general practitioner aka medical officer IMG, with at least 5 years of continuous practice in my country, interested in relocating to Australia. It would seem that you mention that someone like me would be exempted from the AMC. Or, did I not get that correctly? If so, what do I have to do, please?
That is if you have GMC registration and have minimum of 1year work from experience in UK, then you are exempted from AMC

((Requirements for eligibility for the Competent authority pathway
Category A UNITED KINGDOM General Medical Council (GMC)
Successful completion of the Professional and Linguistic Assessments Board (PLAB) test
since 1975, AND :
• successful completion of the Foundation Year 1, or
• 12 months supervised training (internship equivalent) in the United Kingdom, or
• if the 12 months supervised training (internship equivalent) is completed in another
Board approved competent authority country, approved by that competent authority.))
