I have used this camera along with my sony hvr z1! I would actually recommend the z1 over the v1 as the z1 has 3ccd sensors (no rolling shutter) and the zoom ring is much more responsive. BUT if you want better lowlight and better quality definetly get the v1, as it even had hdmi!
@@starkistuna Its just a generic video capture box I got of ebay. The main difference being it records directly to a usb drive. I show it in the video.
Yes pretty sure I mentioned that in the video. It has clean hdmi out and I did buy a second hand one to use with it but it was faulty so sent it back. Not sure I would want to use prores all the time either the files are huge but if you had a commission that wanted prores its nice to know you have that option.
Apparently its not good in dark places. I guess it depends how much gain you give it. I've never used it in a dark place so i can only go on what I've heard.
@@thecarmarthenshirevideogra1204 i have one and in dark places if you use over 12db of gain image is very noisy, but with good lighting creates beautiful images. thanks to show this great camera!
@@thecarmarthenshirevideogra1204 firewire but one time i used Atomos, let me check some images that i obtain with Atomos and i will share with you for compare it with firewire, looks great but i think is a little heavy!
If this still helps, if you close the screen it should turn on. If you want to always have the viewfinder on regardless of if the screen is open, go to settings, display set, and scroll to VF POWERMODE and set it to on. If none of this helps, your viewfinder may just be broken. I hope this fixes your problem!

Hi. Do you have ever consider capturing the video on the HDMI out? With an Atomos recorder for instance?
