I don't listen to Disturbed very often but every time I do I come to the same realization.
David has one of the best voices in modern metal.
I'd go further and say In modern music. When you see him actually cross styles its amazing. You can even hear the saliva in the cover of "Sound of Silence." Which shows there is little editing, at least in that place.
He can sing various styles. Rough and raw, but can sing a melody with the best.
His vocalizations can get a bit boring, and repetitive. Definitely a great voice though.
That's not really saying much. They all sound like they're filled with rage, anger and hate. I like a little more positivity than that in my music, but that's just me, so enjoy.
@@johnscoone9310 Hmm, you might not have heard many different genre's of metal. Melodic Death Metal sounds melancholic and sad. Not filled with anger, rage, or hatred. Try Insomnium's "The Conjurer".
If you want a bit more positivity I would suggest some Folk Metal or Power Metal. Maybe something like Unleash the Archers or Korpiklaani. Symphonic metal, while not being more positive persay, does not feature a lot of rage and hatred. Nigthwish is a good one.
There was an interview where the vocalist explained what the lyrics meant. He said it was about people taking pleasure in chaos and feeding off of it.

I think it wants to express the control in society, perhaps it's related to the Bible but somehow, we are, even as atheists, controlled by other things, e.g. media, music, cinema with hidden messages.

I went to a Disturbed and Three Days Grace concert a few days ago and they played this. There was a guy a (diagonal) row in front of me and my mom. He was dancing around (being more energetic than anyone there) and me and my mom were cracking up the whole time cus this idiot was like dancing around than stopping to cuddle his gf. It was cute. Then I saw a man with a black cow boy hat and I told my mom to befriend him. I miss him. Lmao you're welcome for that story.

The first time I saw this video I was frying on acid with my boyfriend and it litterally felt like an outer body experience. There is so much meaning to this song. Raw lyrics, and deep feelings are heard throughout all of Disturbed's music. I've been listening to them with my dad since they came out with there first album and have been the biggest fan since. In my own opinion, David Draiman is one of the most intelligent, influential musicians around. I hope their next album comes out soon! 🤘💞

My understanding is the "Dark Messiah" and "Vengeful One" are actually references to the angel Azrael. Too much to get into here, but read up on it if you're curious.
