- I am Der Geher and reach Hamburg Airport from Fuhlsbüttel. After a short look into the departure hall I walk through the arrival hall of the airport. Outside again, the Zeppelinstrasse follows and the path leads along the airport with a view of the area. Finally, the Café Himmelsschreiber is reached.
Hamburg Airport Helmut Schmidt is the international airport of the city of Hamburg with a capacity of about 16 million passengers per year. There are two runways that are approximately perpendicular to each other. The airport was founded specifically for airships on Jan. 10, 1911, and planes were added in 1913. The current appearance dates from 2005, when Terminal 1 was inaugurated.
