Do you think it would make sense to split off Amazon into several divisions (retail, entertainment, etc.)?
I don't believe that would create any shareholder value which is the ultimate goal of any type of corporate restructuring. Amazon is retail first and it will be for some time. The entertainment side of the business really feeds off these prime customers and it is more of a value add rather than a standalone entity. A split off would entail a completely separate site and platform which amazom would have to sell shareholders on. Can the Amazon video confidently say it will sustain subscriber growth post-restructuring? Its difficult to say and improbable.
