I am just past 70, just starting a layout, John Allen is my inspiration.

I came to a realization the other day, if you want something to be a perfect 100% scale model, build a freelance model, because if it’s freelance, it never existed in real life, and if it never existed in real life, who’s to say it isn’t scale?

Official guidance: If a "rivet counter" starts criticizing your prototype, shout "STOP TOUCHING ME!" F&C rule number 3.

The F&C Rules, so far: 1) If you are having fun and following electrical safety protocols, you're doing it right. 2) New model railroaders should start with prototyping. 3)If a "rivet counter" starts criticizing your prototype, shout "STOP TOUCHING ME!"

      TaterRaider's Rules:
      1) Electricity is nothing to joke with.
      2) Have fun.
      3) Safety 3rd. (aka: Rowe Rule)
He thinks those should apply to anyone's layout, although the order of them is up for debate. He has no other rules because everyone has their own ideas, we're just sharing ours, including how to deal with Rivet Counters.
