      My country is the greatest country in the world in the world. However, society is in decline, crime is really on the rise(especially in the new no go zones, I live in one of many) the school is the worst in Europe, the healthcare is in distress, debts are skyhigh, we have no defense, our elderly are getting no help and we have a housing crisis(Stockholm has the longest housing cue in the world!!!). All prominent economists predict that our wellfare state will collapse if we continue in our destructive ways.

      Karl XII Well, as a Norwegian I think I understand some of what is going on there. I live in one of the most immigrant heavy parts of Oslo, and things are really not that bad. Yes there are some issues, but it's still really peanuts compared to what most other cities are dealing with. And... maybe you have it worse than us, like the infamous situations in Malmø etc.
      But I'd argue it has more to do with bad planning than immigration in and of itself:
      Look at this:
      www.aftenposten.no/osloby/Her-har-flertallet-innvandrerbakgrunn-121431b.html
      My district has passed 50% immigrants, and still there are not really any huge problems. No riots, no serious crime to speak of and generally it feels like any other part of Norway, just with more brown people :)

    • @urbangaisare
      @urbangaisare Před 7 lety +8

      Salty Admiral Sure bad planning is a factor, but the bad planning is a cause of the mass immigration.
      You can't compare Norway and Sweden. You speak of 50% immigrants in areas, well here it is 100% in many places. We have taken in more immigrants than Norway will ever dream of doing.

    • @jonathangrignon8850
      @jonathangrignon8850 Před 7 lety

      Karl XII what is your argument though? We understand your against immigration, but what are the specifics? Is it fear that crime will increase in the short term or long term, that economic costs will increase in the short term or the long term, that investing in an overqualified hard working mass will pay off in the short term or long term? We understand that investments are costly and unpredictable in the short term, where you seem to lack understanding is the necessity of those risks and investments for success to be possible. Bravery is invaluable in times of doubt, and if you are willing to sacrifice that along with all other virtues, compassion, strength, patience, modest, if you are willing to throw everything that our older generations have worked to inspire us for petty insecurity, then you reap the lack of success tomorrow that you sow today.

      Many American companies do well in Canada. I am sure they like the 15% federal corporate tax rate as opposed to the 35% in the US. American companies that fail make two major mistakes. First they think we are Americans and two they employ the same supply chain management as in the US.

  • @FrancisRoyCA
    @FrancisRoyCA Před 7 lety +61

    Rather than invest my tax dollars in other countries, I'd much rather that he spend it, if he must, here in Canada and on Canadians. Rather than spend money on refugees, spend it on our natives who are in need of education and employment. "Diversity is strength." I wish that he meant diversity of applied skill, talent and thought. If one wants to bring in immigrants, I'm quite happy to have them, provided that they offer skills that are in short supply here. We have no need for extra manual labour in a society that is increasingly service oriented and where our own citizens that specialize in such find it difficult to find work. Doctor, heal thyself, remove the beam from your eye before you soapbox about the mote in another's.
    His pretense at taking the high road of avoiding fear is in fact fear of dealing with racial and religious tension causes by those who refuse to address it frankly, and who commit crimes that are beyond the pale. The point is not to exploit fear but to address the root cause: agreed. Pretending that we don't live in a world where Islamic terrorism, racial insurgency and identity politics is not merely failing, but refusing to deal with the root cause, which is the lack of a spine and under-developed critical thinking abilities on our politician's part. He exploits fear: the fear of an accusation of political incorrectness.
    This speech is a teenager's Utopian dream, not a realistic and pragmatic message to Canadians or the world.

    I would like to see some objective studies done to prove this 'diversity is strength' bit. As far as studies I've seen so far, homogeneous groups have increased work ethic, empathy, happiness and productivity. It seems to be just a happy-feelie rhetorical stance.

    • @manguy2000
      @manguy2000 Před 7 lety +2

      Agreed. The more diversity, the more time required to talk about it, manage it, conduct gap analysis, create entire Departments to oversee affairs. Meanwhile, productivity is lost as we argue and discuss different, equality etc..
      That does not mean we can't be respectful to communities that are different, cultures, languages etc..but why do they all have to live in the same geographic place? We live in a globalized word, highly efficient thanks to technology and transportation.

    Kind of interesting to see the divide on Trudeau. Personally Harper was a P.O.S. Prime Minister but I understand why he was voted in. Anyhow - just wanted to add, Canada is probably the world leader in terms of managing different cultures within its borders and of course, I'll see people complaining and bitching because, why not, it's the internet, I guess that's what you do when you see stuff you don't agree with - but going back to my comment, the fact that the French and English have managed to live side by side in the "new world" so to speak without it turning into a civil war all these years, plus handling in newcomers from all parts of the world that when you go to pretty much any major Canadian city, you'll be able to find people, good and services from all over the world. Canada encourages you to celebrate your heritage and be a Canadian as well while most other countries, you're that nationality/culture and that is it which is why they often have difficulties incorporating new immigrants from cultures that are not like theres.
    And as for Sharia law, they already tried that a decade or so ago and the public and government politely but firmly said, gtfo if you think that's happening... So either you have a country that encourages diversity and multiculturalism or you stick with isolationist and a culture that has no flexibility. In the big picture, The country that sticks to isolationist in its values will only succeed in incorporating the rest of the world into it's fold by conquest alone as it would need to subjugate others into its fold in order to grow. While the multi-culture country could grow organically and would not need to grow in an aggressive manner. Do note that we're not discussing the economic pros and cons of an isolationist view versus globalism. That's a different discussion all together.

      @@rabbitholesinc Lets see here - if you're asking what I think about Trudeau, which if you notice, I didnt state that I was in favor or against, personally I think he needs to be put behind bars, but I suspect you are more interested in my multi-culturalism position.
      I stand by it because it's still required for a nation to grow, adapt and in our case, survive. Just a local stroll through your own grocery store or town will show you the benefits of that. Then you factor in our landmass size - it's that old term, use it or lose it. In a time when nations are going to start eyeing territory for natural resources and potential take over, a nation of 35 million people operating in the 2nd largest landmass on the planet is ripe for conquest. Internally or externally.
      There's a big difference between removing ones own borders and eliminating any requirements for entering a country, that is not multi-culturalism. That's an invasion. We're both on the same page there. 22m or whatever the figure is going on in the US is unacceptable and the 500k or so we've already brought in 6 months here in Canada is disgusting. Multi-culturalism doesn't mean open the floodgates and down the local population so to speak.
      It's also important to have cultures that are compatiable to your own - Islam, isn't which is what I hinted at above. Nevermind, we can debunk the entire religion but that's a topic for another day.
      Cheers. Thanks tho for making me go down memory lane, I enjoyed it (seriously). Sadly, I dont think either of us will be around in 7 years to continue this convo but fingers cross that Im wrong with that assessment.

    I don't support his party, but Trudeau is making his mark in the world, and is setting an example which many people find attractive. This was a well-presented speech, making all the necessary references. However, his comment about professionals among the refugees neglected to mention that few of such people will be able to practice their metier because Canada's professions maintain very difficult barriers for immigrants to enter them. This has been a problem for many decades. Unfortunately, many Canadians expect newcomers to start as janitors or gas station employees.

      Hello Capitalist Turds. Justinian and Co. The wealth gap between the rich and poor in Canada widened at the fastest pace on record in the first quarter of 2023 compared with the year before, according to Statistics Canada, amid high inflation and declining real estate values. The gap in net worth grew by 1.1 percentage points in that timeframe, the fastest it has grown since 2010, when the agency began keeping the record.

    There are so many "refugees" that are abusing this system!
    I have a friend from Syria, her family has power and wealth as her father is a currupted Syrian millitary officer. Her father became disabled in a fight and have to leave Syria since he can no longer stay in the millitary and he has too many enemies. So the family hid&forged documents, and moved to Canada as a "refugee", and they are able to hide their wealth. The family of 7 received all sorts of assistance/benefits every month from the government: housing, disability(for the crippled father+"war traumatized" mom who can't work at all ), food(for 3 under 16yo children)...etc. They have to play "poor" "traumatized" at the doctors' to qualify for the disability benefit though. Anyway, they are living happily with their money PLUS our money.

    Trudeau - "We are determined to build an economy that works for everyone"
    Nothing of any real substance in the entire speech... HOW do we create an economy that works for everyone, one free of 'anxiety', does our science have a solution? My proposal...
    Our current model of Capitalism will not survive ever increasing technological efficiency in the market, neither will any of the other 'failed' models of the past be relevant.
    Our unprecedented technological efficiency will result in most human labor being made obsolete. This is a wonderful development, but not in the context of Capitalism.
    Capitalism has served us well but needs to be retired in favor of a socioeconomic model that fully leverages the ability of our science and automation to create abundance.
    WHAT WE NEED is a systems approach to the design of cities in their entirety and not the inefficient adhoc approach of today. Cities should be technologically integrated from the ground up to be autonomous in terms of providing the cities residence access to the necessities of life free of debt and servitude, all this done to the extent of our current science.
    The fact is people do not need jobs what they need is access to the necessities of life, clean food, clean water, clean environments, shelter, energy, transportation, medical and most importantly a relevant education.
    The best proposed model I am aware of is popularly known as a 'Resource Based Economy'. Please if you haven't already done so view the documentaries "Paradise or Oblivion", "Future By Design", "The Choice Is Ours 2016" these documentaries are the culmination of the life work of 100 year old Jacque Fresco the visionary of "The Venus Project".

Perhaps before he starts trying to "save the world" with his UN buddies and their sustainable living Agenda 21 plans, maybe he could fix issues in our country that need his full attention... that is why people voted for him.. not to get Canada more into the UN but to run our country... not to spend more than a months worth in rent per plate for his guest during a flight... was the food made from the gold? maybe the rest of the gold that Canada HAD but was sold at basement prices... he just had it made into spaghetti?
