⭐️What questions you have for Izzy and Jen?
🚀 What subject do you want to see next?
I would like to ask Izzy how her application differed from law with European law from just law and what A levels she did please - did she have to a language for example?
@@lizavoloboeva3500 Hi Liza! The application doesn’t really differ at all! It’s a good idea to demonstrate an interest in European law in your personal statement if you can, e.g. I briefly mentioned a comparison between a specific law in England and Germany I’d made in an essay. But it’s definitely not a necessity if you can’t work something in - the tutors priority is your suitability for the straight law course. They know you’ll also be applying to other unis and that they might not be for courses with European law, so they don’t absolutely expect it to be a feature of your PS. It’s at interview where the process will slightly differ, as you have an extra interview for European law if you’ve picked one of the options where you’d be taught in a different language.
I did History, Politics and German at A-level, though as I applied for the option in the Netherlands where you’re taught in English, a language wasn’t actually a requirement for me. If you wanted to opt for German, French, Spanish or Italian law, then you’d be expected to be studying the relevant language at A-level and aiming for an A, unless you’re a native speaker.
Hope this helps! Izzy
Good!
Thanks so much!
I am from India, Ma'am i am so excited and curious to know more about Oxford University.
I want to know does seniors at oxford do ragging.
And does professors cold call in class.
And ma'am i am second year law student, and i got failed in 2 subjects in my second semester exams having some life problems. Since my university will be opening in couple of days since pandamic, i am trying to bounce back in my life.

@@unireachuk Oo so kind thank ya 💜💜
Ohh at which uni in the Netherlands are you going to do a course Izzy? I'm going to study law here too next year
Leiden! :)
@@izzyhowarth7079 Nice I was born and raised there! I'm going to study law in Utrecht though because I know Leiden too well by now. Leiden together with Groningen are the best towns for students in the Netherlands (because they're so incredibly full with students) :) Groningen is far from everywhere though, and Leiden is smaller than Groningen. Amsterdam is not the best for students because it's too expensive and it's touristy, but from Leiden you can go there to party and just enjoy Amsterdam culture. I thought you might go to Nijmegen because the law course there is good too but it's an ugly university and just one campus while in Leiden everything is max10min bike ride so still close but you're still in town while doing it, and you're lucky because the law building is by far the prettiest building, prettiest library, prettiest location and during the exam seasons only law students can go there. And of course Leiden is the best for law because it's next to the Hague! But you probably already know all of that haha
@@kimtassen4938 Thank you so much!! That's so helpful and nice to hear, I'm so excited!
Aw thanks! I can spit more Leiden facts, the law department is in het Rapenburg which is just a cannel with a ton of high, expensive "herenhuizen" (google translate says mansions but just think every generic photo of amsterdam, looks a bit like that) with a lot of law firm offices and it's where king Willem-Alexander lived when he studied history in Leiden. Again the city centre is kind of small and the law department is in the middle of it, you just turn a corner and there are the other cannels, cafes, shops.. The French bakery where I worked (mamie gourmande) is really close to law.. Across from the law department is the small Van der Werff park where students chill.. one of the nicest things to do in Leiden is sailing through town with friends, with music and snacks, or canooing or paddle boarding! And if you're here on the 3rd of October there's the 2nd largest fair in the Netherlands because Leiden was freed from the Spanish in 1574 lomng story of course but it's a lot of fun. And of course you probably already know but in het Rapenburg there's de Hortus Botanicus where for some reason students from the university of Leiden can go to for free, and they do, especially in summer because there are large gardens of exotic plants and trees and it's just academics and museum goers, you can chill at the cannal on the other side (de witte singel) and some even swim there, and you can iceskate on the cannels in winter. Oh and in April there's de Singelloop if you're into running, it's just around all the singels ("girth" apparently? I mean one big cannel that goes in a circle) which is 7km and widely organised. I'm curious to see if you're going to join any societies, I don't know if this is the same in the UK but here you have infamous societies that mostly drink, own houses and party but also have hierachies and have dejuvenations which I'm really not a fan of, but I don't think Minerva and Quintus are THAT bad (maybe Minerva). The worst in the Netherlands is Vindicat in Groningen. They're in the news every year for accidents with dejuvenations. I'm going to join societies that do sports, because then you have a fun activity and parties all in one. Leiden is just a great city, you probably know this but most cities here are concentrated in the west and we call it 'de Randstad', so if you're from the Hague, Amsterdam, Utrecht, Leiden, Rotterdam, Delft, etc. you are from de Randstad. All these cities are within 1hr from eachother by train, the trains are completely free for students (unless you don't finish a course within 10 years)
@@izzyhowarth7079 and you don't need to buy even a 2nd hand bike, there's a company called swapfiets and eeeverybody uses their blue bikes. They exist in Germany too, maybe also in the UK so maybe you know them already..the pricy supermarket is Albert Heijn, the cheap ones are hoogvliet, dirk and lidl, and in between is de Jumbo.
Are u undergraduate students?!
Izzy and Jen are both first year students at Oxford!
@@unireachuk oh thank u so much :)
