Monstercat’s 3rd compilation ‘Momentum’ released shortly after ‘Early Stage’, on October 4, 2011. Another 15 old-style tracks, featuring a few new names such as Hellberg and Mr FijiWiji. leave a comment if you’re excited for the rest of this series!

this is all my opinion, and i don’t tolerate blatant disrespect towards artists in my comments. by all means you’re allowed to have a least favourite but be respectful about it! don’t be bashing me about the ranking either, it’s not gospel truth and you should enjoy what you want without being judged :D

‘Tearout’ and ‘Tearout Dubstep’ are, for the record, NOT the same:
Tearout: popularised by the likes of MARAUDA, this heavy style of modern dubstep blends heavy elements of sound design such as machine gun basses and powerful drums.
Tearout Dubstep: Tearout dubstep is an early style of dubstep with an emphasis on aggressive midrange sound wobbles. Its main features are more simplistic / minimalistic, with very distorted basses created from basic waveforms. It later evolved into Brostep.

#15: Atlas's ugly little brother. I despise the rawrs and screechiness (1/10)
#14: I can follow the melody a bit but it's mid af (3/10)
#13: Boring but still listenable (3/10)
#12: It is funny lmao ill give it that but it just feels too repetetive (2.75/10)
#11: Dubstep sound design is decent if used correctly, thats what this song nails at (5/10)
#10: Guilty pleasure here, I remember how much I was addicted to this song in 2020 (6.75/10)
#9: Agreed. I like the chillness of it but it's forgettable (5.5/10)
#8: Unfortunately that is all the song offers which is kinda disappointing (4/10)
#7: Catchy sound but it gets boring real quick (6/10)
#6: I do not find it interesting... thats all im gonna say (3/10)
#5: It is a bop but I like the vocals better than the sound (6.25/10)
#4: I gave this song a relisten and I pretty much enjoyed the drops. (6.5/10)
#3: The well flowed random sounds do not make it any catchier in my opinion (4.75/10)
#2: It is cookie cutter, but at least for its time, it was well made (5.75/10)
#1: My hot take with trance songs is that they're repetetive but this has a good type of repetetiveness (6/10)

(005, 007, and 008 are the ones ive enjoyed out of the first ten albums)
I usually don't find most of the songs worth my time up until 011 and I start loving them at 016 (and beyond), but 022 and beyond is where I feel that Monstercat has got its stuff together and became more consistent.
