Hello and thank you for all of your videos. They help me to understand so much! On Ex #4-the documentation does not state that the pt now has AIDS (or that HIV has now progressed to AIDS). It only states HIV+ asymptomatic. In your other videos, you make it very clear that if it is not documented we cannot code it. We cannot diagnose for the doctor. Only go by what is documented. Please advise as to how it was determined to be AIDS without the doctor's documentation? Thank you
Hello @camaro6813, thats a nice question.
Let me help you understand, once an asymptomatic patient starts getting the symptoms related to the disease, he is no more asymptomatic, he is a proper symptomatic patient.
In our scenario #4 , the patient is diagnosed with thrush and candidiasis, which are the symptoms of Hiv. Therefore, the patient is no more asymptomatic and should be coded as Symptomatic HiV patient ie B20,...
Hope this helps 😊
Hii
I'm so thankful for you
I need help
Regarding the excercise 4
HIV positive asymptomatic
Don't we need to code that one
Hii @yaminikanchumarthy

in last case pts is in labor why we didn't code it
Great question. The labored breathing was due to the pneumocysitits (pneum/o is the combining form for lung)
In Exercise #4, the first screen shows B20, B37.9 for option A, but on screen where you explain the answer, option A is B20, B37.0. Which option A is correct, the one with B37.9 or B37.0?
Thats a nice question.

@@Aida_shitaye No, that doesn't answer my question but thank you. 😁
Once hiv positive in past, present if she is an asymptomatic also we code B20 only right why z21??? 😢
