15 - PICKING AND SHARING - AN ALTERNATIVE TO FOOD WASTE (Les Butineurs) | Quebec🍐🍓

We left here with a new positive video! I arrive in Alma at Lac Saint-jean, I am welcomed with open arms by a whole beautiful community, in particular François who hosts me and will make me meet several beautiful alternatives including Les Butineurs. This originally informal project developed thanks to Karine Routhier. They consist of going to the gardens of individuals and fields of owners who have fruits and vegetables that are no longer in use, to pick them with volunteers from the community. Following the harvest, 1/3 of the harvest goes to volunteers, 1/3 to the owner and 1/3 to community organizations. It's a win/win! All of this allows you to give back and avoid food waste! It is no less than 7.7 tonnes of fruit and vegetables in one year that Les Butineurs have been able to save and redistribute.
It was such a great experience to pick and see so much abundance in this territory!
