  • This barn find ride on lawn mower is rusty and rotten. It has been left in a feed store for many years. The whole thing looks like it's ready to be scrapped. Will it run?
    Thank you to my Patrons

    Long time subscriber here, and I love ALL your videos, no matter what you're doing. I am a Machinist, have my own business, if you want, I can machine you a new gear lever. Totally free, if you could just cover shipping, I will gladly do it. That also goes for any other parts or random bits you may need in the future. Would love to be able to contribute to the channel.

      @@MachineryRestorer What do you plan on doing with this mower if you don't restore it, will you keep it for parts or sell it on to someone else to use. I was surprised to see it still cuts really well even with the rusty old blades.

    @DancerOfClouds Před 2 lety +4

    That little mower came back to life very well and I for one loved the video and your presentation. IMO this would make a fine restoration project as there was no discernible rust anywhere, the deck would come back nice. This mower is built so much tougher than most of the stuff today. Give her a nice powder coated deck and body and she will look as good as new. She deserves it. Thanks

    Awesome! What you call a 'will it run' (WIR) is more like a rustoration that many in the US do. Get it running with minimal parts and painting. Most WIR in the US start with seeing if the engine is locked up, has spark, and if so they try to start it, usually with a separate fuel tank (or even just a rubber tube full of gas), then proceed from there. Keep up the great work!

    Very nice repair 👍
    Last week my neighbor asked me to work on his riding lawnmower with a Briggs and Stratton v twin engine on it. He said it would start but it sounded like there was a rattling noise coming from the engine. When I asked him to start the engine I did in fact hear a rattling noise but it also sounded like it was running on only one cylinder. I found one of the push rods got bent from a stuck valve so it fell out of place and began rattling around inside the engine. So I had to replace that push rod and the stuck valve with the valve guide.

    The wire from a Wire Brush works well for cleaning the tiny holes in the Emulsion Tube. You can try heating the part then soaking in cold water to break it free. Great that it started. Peerless Transmission? Sounded like it may need Trans fluid. A great candidate for changing pulleys and making a high speed runabout. I didn't expect it to also have Electric Start and Rope Start. Well Done. I would not buy premium fuel line. Belts yes. Some Killex would help that Lawn!
