    Life threw us a few curveballs in this episode, including the first time ever in 18 months travelling Australia where we felt unsafe at a campsite. But first we tackled Bluff Knoll, WA’s highest peak in the South West, during extreme heat.
    We then battled bushfires, creeps and a lack of available campsites while trying to find a home for the night, and found a hyped-up camp to be a bit of a letdown. We eventually made our way into Albany for a week of pretty poor weather but when the sun came out, we made the most of it, visiting the historic Albany Whaling Station, Misery Beach, the Gap and Natural Bridge, plus the prettiest hike we’ve done in Australia: Bald Head Trail.
    We then decide to make a big change to our travel plans at the end of the video which will lead into one of our most exciting episodes yet coming next. Stay tuned for that and let us know what you think we have coming in the comments below.
    We hope you enjoyed watching this episode and thanks so much for the support and kindness on our videos! We're on the trip of a lifetime as we travel Australia full-time so subscribe now to see the whole adventure.

    Maybe a warning needs to be issued that if you are not very fit and young never go hiking in the outback in 35c heat unless you are very well prepared. Heat stroke is no joke. People do come to grief more often than people think or hear about. Carry loads of water and some electrolyte tablets with that. Early mornings are probably the best time. Well done you two. Beautiful country. We are lucky to have this.

      Totally agree. So many people have been rescued or even died on that hike for various reasons but being unprepared in hot conditions is one of them. Having climbed it in heat, snow, for sunrise and normally, I’ve seen so many unprepared people and it’s scary.

    You guys should have done the skywalk in the Porongurup NPk, shorter walk 2 -2.5 hr but still stretches the old calves. That climb takes you through a small pocket of Karri country. My guess is a visit to Rotto or ballooning in the Avon Valley.

    I climbed Bluff Knoll at age 52 and not particularly fit but managed really well. It was really hot and clear sunny skies on the way up, but it turned icy cold and blowing a gale when we reached the summit, worse of all the summit was completely shrouded in fog so we didn’t have as great a view as you two did. But that’s the nature of the Bluff! 😂

    How does bluff knoll compare with Frenchman’s peak?

    • @our.australia.trip.
      @our.australia.trip.  Před 5 měsíci +2

      I would say probably 10x more difficult in the heat we did it. Bluff knoll is 4x as much elevation gain and 3x the length of Frenchman’s. This took us 3hrs to summit, Frenchman’s we got up in 20min in thongs 🤣

    Have you been driving your land cruiser much? Relying on the handbrake can turn into disaster, even if you need to leave it on the smallest incline for 5 mins, turn the vehicle off and leave it in gear and chuck a rock under the wheel. The rock is comingly called known as the landcruiser handbrake.

    Hi Brad & Hayley, enjoyed your Vlog as always, thanks 😊 A question (or two) from fellow Zoners, I hope you don’t mind.
    You have the latest Peregrine with no gas inside. How do you find your power levels on overcast days (not solid rain, but overcast) and using the inverter for cooking? Looks like you have the 1060 Watts on the roof? on average is that getting you back to full power each day when its a little overcast? I imagine if you get down to 50% it would be difficult getting back to 100% or is your system handling that well.
    Cheers and thanks heaps 😃

      Thanks for tuning in guys. We do really quite well, and touch on power in our next video - with the manager 100 on the horizon we did test an upgrade for the zone manager 30 systems with really positive results you can read and see it here: service.zonerv.com.au/knowledge/gain-up-to-an-extra-50-amps-in-your-sojourn-or-peregrine-gen-2-caravan. We are not careful at all with power and can sustain 3-4 overcast days before really getting low. In our 6 mths of ownership i can say we haven't really experienced any more overcast days than that. Hope that helps 😊
