That’s exactly right! Everyone seemed to love the h145 but most of us are skeptical that the CG will cough up the money any time soon. Thankfully they aren’t that much more than a 65 so maybe they will.
@@miketryka2886 You are right, but they did explain that the coast guard spends 22 million on every 60 they get from the navy by the time they refurbish them. These are supposedly 10 million each in the CG configuration. The coast guard isn’t smart enough to buy them though.
That’s awesome. One of the national guard guys next door said their lokotas are pretty maintenance heavy though and have a lot of issues. What are your thoughts on that?
@@GRAPPAHOLICS Due to the sophistication/technology of the aircraft there are occasional "gremlins' that pop up. A reboot typically clears up any anomalies with the software...in terms of heavy maintenance I don't see anything over and above any other Helicopter in our fleet (S92/S76/AW139/B407).

I think the latest and greatest H160 like super daupine would be more to what you guys are looking for... other than the price tag. Fly Safe!
A lot of red tape and logistics for that to happen. For instance, the US Military can only use foreign equipment if it contains 51% US parts. Logistically a nightmare.
Perfect solution for uscg replacement helos would be AW189 to replace dolphin & S92 to replace jayhawk (s92 with external long range drop tanks would have impressive range) basically just get what uk coastguard use.
The 189 is heavier than the H-60 which means it can't be cutter deployable. Back when the Coast Guard was deciding through the Deep Water acquisition process the S-92 was considered, but ultimately dropped in favor of SLEP of the H-60 fleet.
The H145 would be great for the CG as a MH-65 replacement. It has superior flight hour costs, is already in the US inventory (UH-72B) already Manufactured in the USA. But I expect the USCG will co for a common fleet type and get more Jayhawks. The NAVY has more than 80 more MH-60 Romeo and Sierra's than it currently needs.
Can't believe what i read. So you would change an MH65 E mod with a slower and less practicle chopper like the 145d3? In SAR mission you need speed and a difference of 30/35 kts is too much.
@@GRAPPAHOLICS No it doesnt make sense. Ok, better OEI performance but the Echo mod is a dream of a Dolphin. And 145 cruise speed is just "embarrassing".

There's four reasons why they would be spraying that helicopter with water like that one they're bringing back a dead service member tell somebody from the crew has gotten back from deployment from somewhere and they're giving them s welcome home 3 the helicopter is on its very last mission of flight for the United States armed forces for somebody in that crew is retiring and that was their final flight those are the only reasons and I can tell you after doing two tours in Iraq every time we set foot back down on land no matter what airport we were at or what base we landed on we had that same greeting. Welcome back job well done thanks for your service. The Chinook and the Blackhawks were mostly what we got to fly in for transport and missions.

The Coast Guard should replace the Dolphins with the Airbus H-160.

Cool machines. I used to work as the medical crew on one of these.
Sweet video, thanks. Love the H145. Does the US Coast Guard have glass as standard over perspex for windscreens to protect against bird strikes?

Fantástico.
Probably the pilot's final flight. Retiring or promoting out of flight status. I have also seen it done for the retirement of an aircraft.
I would think the Leonardo AW139 would be the choice for USCG!

It sounds like the plan is to replace the Dolphin with 60s even though they don’t fit on most cutters.
Whats the range on that beautiful thing?
I work around helicopters all day as well, I work for a tour company and load/ unload people into the helicopter and wash the helicopters
