2022 Mei Jia Mandarin Sumner Camp- The Sea World

In session 3, The Sea World, students learned about various topics, including the anatomy and interesting characteristics of ocean animals and about the habitats that the animals live in, specifically sharks, seahorses, whales, dolphins, and jellyfish. Students also explored the five oceans of the world, learned about ocean depth, and the density of freshwater and saltwater by doing an experiment. This week, we had a field trip to the beach, where the campers cooperated together by playing activities requiring teamwork, such as tug of war, three-legged race, and last but not least, the treasure hunt game, which they loved.
The class also talked about ocean pollution, and giving back to the ocean for all the resources it has given us. In addition, students conducted a squid dissection, and were able to connect the topics and animals they were studying in the classroom to their counterparts in the real world. We are very proud of all the improvements the students have made in their Mandarin.
