Clay, I met you at Virginia motorsports Park this year. I am the guy that came up and called you Mr. CZcams I’ll man I’ll tell you what thank you so much for taking your time to take a picture with me man and to sign in autograph. You don’t know how much that meant to me. You’re a hell of a nice guy man and I’m finally glad that I got to meet you.
Back in the mid 70’s the ran at night with the 64 funny cars first race I was 16 years old great fun

I was There as a crazy kid and we had lights until the houses started to complain. I grew up really close to SIR and would be there even when mom and dad said NO! I miss this days of “64 Funny Cars” and the high school drags. To be 100% I’m surprised and pleased to see the track is still alive.
I think this is the farthest y’all are from us during the whole season…1850 miles to Drummonds. 💙💙💙

I'm 1.5 miles from the track as the crow flies. I love it. My windows rattle when top fuel is in town and I wouldn't have it any other way. Wish I had attended.

Just an example of Clay, I was walking through the pit area in Vegas early in the morning, they just opened the gates and I see Clay driving by in a rental car, recognized him, waved at him, he stopped, I said all the way from Alaska to see you Clay. He gave thumbs up! Great team, people in general!😉👍

I remember being at a div 6 points race finals were run late at night Maynard Garritty in the finals driving the Dann-Cap T/F car. Maynard was runner up

Night runs, when the track was Seattle International Raceway 1970's, they had quit a few night races, they had to be done and wrapped by 10PM.

Great seeing you Clay! Me and my friends travelled down to Seattle from Canada to watch the Friday night qualifying, we didn’t get home till 4am. I hope they continue to do night qualifying in Seattle as it seemed to be a success overall.

3.76 is not bad, but... the car seems stuck in the mid-3.70 range all season. Remember the very first race of the year? You ran 3.6's and kicked butt. What's going on? The car seems to keep putting cylinders out.

in the late 90s night qualifying was the norm then the Nabors got a noise ordinance passed the city council, after night qualifying started at 6 and usually ended before dark so much for racing under the lights now only 2 times a year can we run past 10pm

So what makes you lose a cylinder (or hole as you call it)? Is it a spark plug failure?
When the timing gets retarded And the volume of fuel being pumped into the cylinder it will blow the spark out

It's too bad Spokane, WA isn't an NHRA track. We used to get World Nationals races here, but I think those were IHRA days.

@ricksayko809 it was NHRA, then became an IHRA track. Big Daddy Don Garlets flipped his last race car over backwards in Spokane at an NHRA Nationals event. It was shortly after that it became an IHRA track. I grew up on that track!
@@jdshaw2751 you look pretty young and probably did not experience drag racing in the 1970’s. The track was owned by the Tice family who owned the American Hot Rod Association. The track was an AHRA track for many years. I have not kept up with the track much since the 1990s might have been Ihra for some period after that.
@ricksayko809 my dad and my uncle were out there all the timefrom the 60s through the 70s. Orville Moe owned it during my youth. My actual racing days were in the 80s and 90s, but I remember being out there in the 70s. I have a picture taken of me sitting on the hillside at the track from 1972!

I'd like to know why you have an open cockpit when 5he vast majority of other cars have closed cockpits
Closed cockpit adds about 40 pounds of weight. Weight that he doesn’t want to add.

I don’t want the added weight also here are the last few years champions. Steve Torrence 2018 2019 2020 2021 champ open cockpit car. Brittany Force 2022 Champ closed cockpit car. Doug Kalitta 2023 Champ open cockpit car. BTW Doug started 23 in a closed cockpit swapped to open and is still running one.

Unfortunately Denver doesn't have any tracks close by anymore, especially for top fuel. Keep up the amazing work, I'm always rooting for you and your team!

SIR is not a great track. I was raised out there, back in the 70’s we lost a good friend out there. He was doing something stupid, hell we all were. Hope it’s smoother now than it was . It was never a legal track then.
