  • Designed by Alok Kothari Architects, the Brown Envelope stands out for its distinct form and careful choice of materials wrapped around an old structure.

    The connection of the exteriors with the interiors through repetition of the material palette is the main emphasis of the design; with the wooden furniture in the interiors reflecting the exposed brick and aluminum fins used on the exteriors.
    Principal Architect Alok Kothari intended to use landscape as a tool to overcome the limitations of the existing structure and establish a strong connection with nature.

      True that, I also feel sometimes small spaces, make you feel so comfortable and secure, like, If I draw the curtains of my bedroom and sneak into my blanket, for some childish reason, I feel so secured and cozy. Do you experience this...?

    I feel like there is a lot of different things going on in this one, I don’t blame the designer, as a designer myself I understand sometimes clients can put a lot of restrictions and It can make things look very monotonous

      Remodeling or renovations are actually a little bit different than designing a new home .some people still likes some parts or special considerations to be kept intact

      Client pays for it. It is job of designer to educate client on alternatives and help them choose the best. One can't blame client for designer's stupidity right? ☺️

    • @priteshchauhan5608
      @priteshchauhan5608 Před rokem

      I think when the directive given is pretty stringent attached with sentiments, it anyways poses a challenge for the designer to strike a balance and not hurt anybody's sentiments (especially his own because his expectation of expressing his art creatively is now put to a pause because of such a conventional and sentiment bound brief). I think the designer managed to make the ends meet in the most efficient manner. It spoke a lot about the designer's composure and approach towards challenging situations versus his clients who I feel were slightly unfair to him for us as viewers to compliment their thought process in the form of their house as a bi-product.

      @@kiranthirumala it is not blaming the client. Being a consultant in a different field, so many times I have come across the clients whom I have explained the pros and cons of certain things, even after explaining multiple times clients did not agree and i had to go with clients wish, where it was not in favour of the clients.

    You have made your client proud and we the audience are wowed by the style the simplicity and the convenient warmth the home exudes. The wood, the tiles, the garden the aluminium façade everything adds up to a stunning end result. To build a stunning modern home is challenging. But to renovate an old home is even more nerve wracking and difficult to do..job superbly done. Do you accept projects outside Pune? How much did the design and build cost? What would be the price of the finished product inclusive of furniture and interiors? Kindly advice. Many thanks

    The architect is obsessed with triangles, trying to put so much in a small space has made this house look very chaotic ..except for the facade......not such an extraordinary description needed for an ordinary design .

    stupid to spend that much money on a 50 yr old structure. it would've been structurally sound to rebuild, & that would've lasted double the number of years, if not more....
