      If a horse is built with a long slim neck, refined head and throat latch this carriage is very easy.

    The whole point of Grand Prix Dressage at the highest level, is that the riders aids are invisible to the onlooker and that the horse appears to be doing everything of its own accord. I didn't see that here. Without this fundamental principal, the music, choreography and spectacle mean nothing.

  • @azariasewell5655
    @azariasewell5655 Před rokem +26

    So many dressage riders either use rollkur methods, ride btv, hyperflex the neck, or overbend the neck of a horse when riding. FEI to me has always been a joke, if they cared they should have made the changes that needed to be made, and stuck to their rules and regulations, instead of letting high end riders get away with horrible riding skills and techniques just because of who they r. No rider no matter who they r or what level they r at should get away with bad riding or training. She started riding behind the vertical immediately, which was irritating to see. A horse should be on the vertical when performing dressage, and if they go slightly in front of the vertical it is fine. A horse's face should be parallel to the ground. A horse looses 10% to 12% of their breathing capacity when they r ridden behind the vertical. Also, when they r ridden btv is also causes them to not be able to move forward properly or use their hindend properly. Very often horses that consistently stay behind the vertical are also difficult to ride in a forward, active tempo. This has a negative effect on the quality of the delivery of the rider's aids, consequently, the pairing becomes a picture of discord and antagonism. A horse should be able to maintain a steady head position, more importantly their poll should be the highest point of the neck. A horse shouldn't be fighting the bit if trained and ridden properly. U can immediately tell he is uncomfortable when he starts out. From his body in general, to his ears, to his mouth, to his tail, etc. When a horse is too high they demonstrate a hollow frame(fov). When a horse is too low it demonstrates a shortened frame(btv). By staying behind the vertical it can also make the bit lighter in the mouth, and resist working correctly by keeping the hindquarters disengaged, thereby not over-tracking or working from behind into the bridle. A consequence is the rider cannot develop the gaits to show any engagement, self-carriage, or even changes of tempo within the pace. It makes it harder to perform and teach higher level moves, such as lateral movements. There r many other problems associated from riding behind the vertical as well. Things definitely need to change.

    • @SwishyTails1
      @SwishyTails1 Před rokem +6

      All of that is ONLY true when the horse is ridden front to back. Always pay attention to the horses hind end before looking at the face. If the hind end is engaged and in front of the riders leg, he is NOT in “rolllkur”. If someone has ever trained a horse up to these levels they really have no clue what they’re talking about. I’m so sick of people being so negative on the internet.

    I hate when there's these favorite couples in dressage - Gal/Totilas, Dujardin/Valegro, Werndl/Dalera, and now Fry/Glamourdale - it makes the competitions so boring and so predictable - I didn't even have to watch the grand prix this weekend to know that of course those two will win, and as seen in this freestyle, it's not necessary deserved - (lots of tension, protest from the horse, and failing in the pirouettes) - personally I think Benjamin Werndl did a way better job overall and deserved the win, but we can't have that, can't we, because people have bought tickets to see Glamourdale win...

    • @janets6474
      @janets6474 Před rokem +4

      If the horse and rider deserve the score, then so be it.
      Charlotte DuJardin is a phenomenal rider. She is a classical dressage rider, training her horses to be strong with self carriage. Her horses never look stressed because they take years to train them. She and Carl have a training schedule that promotes a horses fitness, mental wellness, and general willingness to do the work. They are not overworked: and they get time off, time outside, and lots of riding time outside of the ring.
      Then, when Valegro was at his peak, she retired him. I think he was just starting to feel the effects of the work because his hock started to look sore. It's not about money or prestige for her and Carl. It's simply a love of the horse and the sport.
      The FEI is promoting big money, snobbery, and power. The horse will lose every time in that situation.

    • @IvySnowFillyVideos

      The horse ranks high in rideability. He is bred to naturally perform dressage. Upper level test requires mostly collected movements which this horse performs naturally.
      I do agree he could elongate his frame more in the few lengthening movements. However that's more a technical issue with the rider not horse issue
