- Welcome and welcome back everyone! Another trip out on the Saginaw Bay Monday February 14th 2022.
The bay did not treat us so well on this trip as far as walleye fishing goes.
The walleye had lockjaw. If you have ever fished the Saginaw Bay for walleye you understand exactly what I mean.
We did catch some fish and I actually cooked a species of fish that I’ve never ate in the past.
No matter what, I enjoyed every second I was out there and HOPEFULLY can get back out there at least one more time this Winter.

Good video. We eat a lot of white bass here in Wisconsin and there delicious. Typically when i fillet them i only keep the meat above the lateral line “the backstrap” then like you mentioned, keep your knife off the skin a bit to take the red meat off. 👌🏼

For anyone who says white bass aren't good table fare you're probably cleaning them wrong. You don't have to soak them in buttermilk like some people say. Any bad taste is in the dark red meat. When you take the fillet off the skin leave a little flesh on the skin that will get rid of most of it. Then you just trim the fillet from there great eating!
I was actually very happy with the white bass and WILL eat it again!
I would get whitebass when I fished deeper, like 25ft or more

I believe in the full moon theory, but it wouldn’t stop me from fishn any other time. The local weather conditions can supersede that!!

Just came across you and subbed. Want to make a trip to Saginaw from 4hrs south. Any advice on the ice? I have 4x4 wheeler. Does the ice move and shift out there? Like cracks and shelfs?
Thanks a lot! I appreciate it! I’m not sure if you have Facebook or not but if you do there is some good groups on there and people keep the latest reports up to date on their. Fishing and ice reports. The ice will shift and move and cracks will open up so it’s one thing to consider for sure but quads usually don’t have an issue getting out and back unless a crack opens up
Good to eat!! Just cut the dark flesh off after skinning it!!!! Try it blackened delicious!!!!!

It’s an awesome body of water to fish for sure. I grew up fishing the bay but haven’t had a lot of time to get out there the last few years since I moved
@@TheOutdoorConquest it sure is. We went to Erie hoping to fish that but the opening was way bigger by then so we ended up there one of the best times wish we would have had more then 4 days to fish

Talk about jumbo. Great perch for sure. I've never caught a white bass. They just aren't in any waters near me. Looked like a good fight. And I could eat perch all day. Definitely my favorite freshwater fish to eat. Or maybe a good catfish sammich hahaha. Great video Luke!
