The Mena Birdie pick against EndingWalker was the best counter pick of the entire week.
Fr that made me respect Mena more. I figured he would just use Luke the whole time.
Zhen immediately made me a fan, can't wait to see more of him
Yeah at first I was like “this guy is really good wtf”. And from reading his tweets, im now like “he is pretty funny and entertaining “
Mena is in a weird place where no one expected him to win the CC, but no one is exactly surprised or calling it an upset either. lol
Actually the whole Dominican scene did called this, proud of our champ.
Mena is also still the youngest Capcom Cup Champion of all time! G.O.A.T!
week long capcom cup was a high point because it was a week of entertainment and the competition really focusing and playing their best
I loved the entire format!
I think this practically cements Luke's stranglehold as the King of SFV.
I mean, definitely a good character, but a top 16 where, what, 14 different characters see play is a sign of healthy balance imo.
Luke was very good but I think mena was even better. The way he played against with zhen (obviously it was different because he won), it felt like he actually knew what to do. Because he shut him down with ca and ex dp.
(Also this is what happens when a character is too strong in a game, because everyone is going to learn the Luke matchup, that’s the #1 priority)
I mean kinda, with the start of the brackets with their being like 9/10 Luke players outta 48 that qualify and only 2 (Mena & NL) made it into the top 8. Luke is strong no doubt but he still gets wash by many players other characters throughout the tournament even low tier ones as that. But in the end 1 was able make it all the way (sorta) in the hands of MenaRD.
@@jcrodriguez7188 And he picked Birdie against EnderWalker because his Ed flickered NL's Luke.
Gotta say the background music choice by the editor is straight up god tier (LOVE the persona music)
I didn't expect to see Iso but that's awesome
Congrats on big 100
congrats on 100k subs!
That walk on bit was comedy gold.
And thats why Mena is the GOAT. He was the only one that was quick enough to understand the surprise.
CONGRATS ON 100K BRINE!
100k lets go brine!
I really enjoyed seeing all of the friendship there. They are competitors, but not enemies.
yo 100k subs grats
Someone’s 3rd irl event being Capcom cup is CRAAAAZY
Zhen winning would've been an amazing storyline but we all know how it had to end (with Luke spamming sandblast and giant normals from halfscreen)
I'm doing everything in my power to get out to the Cup next year. That would be so much fun.
did sajam shave your stache while you were asleep be honest
BRIAN SHAVED!!!
ok but where is the spreadsheet?
Zhen's interview was great, he seems like a cool dude lol. But Mena played like a nut, he was insane, he earned the win
Zhen was incredible. Pity he couldn't take it. Ggs to Mena pity it was with Luke, but guess a Luke win was inevitable.
Xian, fudo won out of no where during sf4 era and they still play to this day
Ryan Hart underrated player but now days we can't see him in tournaments
I actually think iDom intentionally lost to Takamura, in his interview he said quite blatantly that he’s trying to avoid all of the Lukes and by losing Takamura he actually managed to achieve that incredible feat.
P.S. I’m surprised/disappointed that nobody brought Brian F pics to the tourney with them.
Kawano hiding behind Punk is hilarious, such a wholesome photo
We have someone to thank for both Luke and Oro??? Awesome! Give them a raise!
This Capcom Cup was the second tourney my girl watched and she had several mini heart attacks lol we were cheering for Zhen and against all Luke's but she was happy for Mena. It was an amazing experience
iDOM is so talented and dedicated to street fighter, i cannot fathom iDOM not making capcom cup again and getting another shot at the champion spot. Especially considering NA is very top heavy right now. There aren't that many world class NA players.
100k Subs yoooo
Just subbed. Anyone know if Brian is eligible to enter the SF6 $2mil tournament?
I don't know why it took me so long, but I finally saw the video where he showed off the blurry-ass picture I took with him and iDom at 20:13. It was real awkward, glad and kinda disappointed he didn't say anything about how fuckin weird I was. I had spent like twenty minute hyping myself up to approach him and iDom after I saw them talking, but man I must have come off as nervous as fuck.
Bryan F "thinks that winning it all from out of nowhere sets you up for failure due to the weight of expectations to come" *sic
Arslan Ash enters the chat:
it was fun to watch capcom cup not i was expecting at all my mind was endingwalker vs zhen but nope lol mena did very good birdie was a good call vs ed plus has more experience high level still congrats awesome matches . my favorite was zhen his bison was godlike those setups.
19:59 Can check off "get in a Brian F video" off my bucket list ✅
🔥🔥🔥🔥💪
Brian and Sajam photo...Brian's face makes Sajam's look wide as hell
I hope zhen ends up like Jmook in melee, coming second at the biggest tournament of the year then still being able to keep up the form.
Nellbomb called Mena winning as soon as he made it out of groups
“Mixing cookie batter” LMAO
Sometimes it be like that
I get used to the Stash. Now I have to get used to you without it lol.
Imagine Jamie, Kimberly, jp
Or lily in sf5 as the last character instead of Luke 😂
Curious if he had been using hitbox at the time back then
kinda tearly eye. 😓
I see sajam peer pressure got you to get rid of that sick stache. It added a lot of character. Lol
20:17 Come on Brian you literally just took a picture by yourself...
Please bring back the stache. :D
Bro, would you interview Mena?
Send off? What about Evo Japan and Combo Breaker?
Brian starting off with how na cant catch a break because of eu, when crimson and valmaster had to play each other round one. i feel like eu gatekeeps eu harder than na at these big events. was similar at evo with a bunch of eu vs eu before top 8
Does poison lose to bison?
I really wanted iDom to win.
Day three of missing the stache brain, don’t listen to sajam! Day 3 !!!
wow, the No Natural host, one of the guys who sets up the SFL matches with their intro videos doesn't get to just play with other top tier players at the main SFL premier without sneaking in? come on capcom. *shakes head*
ANGRY COMMENT ABOUT SOL
Must be Brian’s cuzo cause Brian has a beard
Zhen obviously did his research on all the big players except for MenaRD. Probably didn't have DR in his crosshairs. He shoulda memorized more film. It's ez to get the drop on others when you're literally a sleeper agent, that comes out of nowhere at the final send off for sfv, and you got all the intel on everyone else, while no one else knows anything about you.
Sajam got Brian drunk and shaved his mustache
4 videos without spreadsheet? Cmom Brian, stop slacking off
16:16 is this true? SF6 has MORE input delay than 5?
Yes. Sfv currently is a very low input delay game. For some reason on release fighting games these days are always laggybthen they reduce input delay as they go on.
first time being early
Holy shit.... Tkamura's Belgian? As a Zimbabwean, I'm so confused.
Literally was hoping for a luke player to not win but here we are with sandblast spam and the broken damage
Why did you shave u looked so cool
He did it with Luke.. Luke won.
yo
????
Yo
So you only got rid of the moustache because it didn't get you throigh the door?
Is Cammy really good against Luke or am I just playing bad Luke’s?
Of all the characters that give my Cammy issues, Luke is NOT 1 of them.
Yo man it's fucked up that Sajam stole your mustache
Hey
It's good analyzing but you should complete your journey reaching warworld
keep the mustache.
I've been trying to watch the whole CC on youtube and have been thoroughly impressed. I'm not deeply in the FGC, and didn't really know any of the Chinese participants - I guess everyone was surprised by Zhen, but VXBAO also had an unexpected big run (I think).
I might be biased or maybe don’t know enough about fighting games but shouldn’t winning in the biggest stage repeatedly be the metric by which the best players are ranked?
Works like that on every other sport.
Why is it that in SFV people don’t consider winning when the stakes are absolutely highest to be exponentially greater than casuals or every other kind of match.
Luke
I just felt that some elite Japanese players were left out ( not sure if the qualifying criteria is fair to top players in highly competitive countries) Fuudo, Daigo, Nemo, Gachikun, Higuchi are few names that deserve a spot in this kind of tournament.
I think it was FAR too long-winded of an event, atleast from a viewer's experience.
This schedule would be PERFECT for EVO, or any multi-game event, since those are pseudo-conventions.
zhen is strong cus he has a big gang of chinese pro back him up during tournament. Locally he has DCQ and his group, and internationally he has chinese and taiwanese pro back him up with chat app to give him info and how to play against. Zhen has alot of resources to come up on how to against opponent. And all his opponent doesn't even know who Zhen is, so his opponents don't have vids or enuf info to come up with good strategy. Mena is lucky cus he has enuf vid on Zhen before grand final, so he knows how to against Zhen effectively.
Mena just got lucky , bracket worked in his favor
It seems you forgot about it
I'm glad we can move on from SFV. I just hope that in SF6 the have Cammy's og costume.
Her OG costume is in the game. All the classic returning characters have their classic costumes which im really glad they did that
Luke meta
Butt clinching sets huh lol
Esports = no setups for plebs.
@Brian_F wtf was up with one of the groups only having 5 people? I'm surprised there isn't a sh*tstorm about that. That was completely, utterly unfair and not something that should have been deemed acceptable for a competition. It was statically easier to get out of that 5 man group than the 7 other 6 man groups. What gives?! All Capcom had to do was have two people qualify from the LCQ. WTF Capcom?! I really wish this was a topic of discussion.
Even the competitors didn't care 🤷🏾♂️. Also if they added one more player it would be more complicated for Top 16 and qualifications etc...
@numa2k147 More complicated for top 16? That would not have been impacted at all. Only two people make it out of the group still. Seems there's a misunderstanding here.
L bozo
Mena is meh because Luke is meh
sounds like you got a bit salty that Mena took this one over Idom....welp better luck next time, as a Dominican we are very happy with the results, for all the people who says Mena first W was a fluke....how about now?
Mena didn't "take it over idom" if they didn't play, of course I'm salty idom didn't win but I'm also very happy for mena. I would've far preferred a mena-idom grand finals I think it would've been way more exciting regardless of who won
Nothing beats Zhen's lore of learning English through rap music.
not unheard of and not uncommon among eastern people. the rap artist Rich Chigga/Rich Brian who is indonesian learned english through youtube rap videos as well. if you listen to him talk he sounds american AF
@@jusimplicitdude it's still impressive, stop downplaying it
